When you are highly sought after as Fred, yes. What do you think Fred would do after those 3 years? He could get $2.6 for the remaining 7 years without even taking two calls.
You serious?

The same person to say in one year that 3-year contract is turned into a 5 year deal at 4 million?I'm not disagreeing with you Swarth but who's to say in 3 years pollard doesn't up Fred's contract to 3 million a year for the remaining 7 years... Which would you take then? We do however know that Pollard has upped Fred's contract twice now so who's to say he wouldn't do it again after another sweet 16 birth or maybe an elite 8 birth? It's all hypotheticals I suppose.

What? You are the one that tossed out the hypothetical. You changed the contract for goodness sakes. I responded in-kind.You're throwing hypotheticals out there about his NBA career which the same could be said for a college career. You can look at it from both angles you know.
Little known fact: he has a series of look-alikes that he utilizes (much like Saddam Hussain did) that randomly disperse his dreaminess across the Midwest. I actually once saw someone that looked exactly like Fred at Jack Trice Stadium last year on the concourse getting his own food. Obviously it wasn't him because a person of his stature wouldn't get his own food. But man, it looked exactly like him.

If you look at the comparison that I responded to, a person with Fred's resume is not getting a better deal making almost half a million less per year. Let's just be happy he is giving us a home team discount.
That is only a hypothetical to average joes in the work force.Mine was in response to your hypothetical of him being able to get a 2.6 million dollar gig after the 3 year one is up:huh:... I just like playing devils advocate with people though![]()
$3 million for 3 years is much better than $2.6 million for 10 imo. It is not as though Fred will have trouble finding a high paying job for the other 7. He could easily go back to college and get $2.6.
I worry less about Coach Hoiberg moving to the NBA as a head coach than I do as a general manager. Fred is great at identifying and maximizing talent, and he has experience there as well. My $.02.
I love Fred and know you have to pay to play but it is hard to get excited about someone now making 10x more than needed to live like a king in Central Iowa. Oh, and I am bummed veisha got $hi+canned too.
I agree with the salary increase.
To play devil's advocate - why increase it? His contract was already set, he got his bonuses from the tourney, and if he wants to leave it's not a money issue (since no other terms changed).
