Hilton magic is dead

pollard thanks you all for balancing his budget. buying those magic wand sticks for big monday set him back a little though. he figured go big for the last big monday we will be in for a long long while.

Lol, not even remotely true, we owned West Virginia when Hoiberg was here, even beat them in Morgantown a couple times if my memory is still good.

Agree...but part of the reason we owned WV was their lack of scoring ability, and terrible outside shooting. Huggy has fixed both of those. They are a very good team, and well balanced. We also miss having Niang/Royce type player. (duh).

It will take more than one less than good season to ruin Hilton Magic....relax!

I am very willing to give Prohm at least a couple more years to get his guys in place, and see what he can do. My main concern with him right now is what I see with his in-game moves with the rotation and leaving guys on the floor when they are clearly not producing or are out of control too often (Burton).

I give Prohm something of a pass still because he is still dealing with mostly Fred guys.....and who knows what is in there head? Do they accept Prohm as the coach, or are they still wishing Fred was here? It is also clear that Naz is not the player he was a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if he is still not 100% healthy or if he just was unable to get his outside shooting skills back for whatever reason. But, he has regressed from what he was at one time.

I also give Prohm a pass because the plan was to have both Lard and Malou on the floor for this season. Unfortunately, we all know what happened there. Now, if he could have done more to get those situations to work out in ISU's favor, I don't know.........but he did have the players committed, and and no one can say that those two guys would likely not make a substantial difference for this team.

I'm much more disappointed in the performance and inconsistency of multiple experienced senior players on this team than I am in the coaching staff. There is no reason these guys should be playing this poorly, imho.

Her's what I'm wondering with Naz. When he's over in the Sukup complex firing three's is he fading back into the bench every time he fires one up or is he standing there waiting for the machine to feed him another ball? Maybe it seems like it's to simple of a fix but maybe he needs to try following through with his shot instead of the whole fade back routine.

I went back and looked at some video of Naz from his sophomore year. It seems that on all of his outside shots back then, he was either stepping into the shot or going straight up. I don't know if the fade away now is because of the surgery or if he just does not realize he is doing it. You would think someone on the coaching staff would notice, but maybe they don't pay that much attention to it..........who knows.

I really want to believe that they've pointed it out to him but once he's on the big stage the showmanship comes back out? I don't know but it definitely effects his shot.

It's to be expected. There's been a major bandwagon effect for the past three years. Looking forward to getting back in to the season ticket pool in the next couple of years.

I think Pollard was hoping that basketball demand would keep growing so that he can do a re-seating of Hilton that will allow him to bring in even more money. From what I hear, there are lots of legacy season ticket holders in the lower level who don't actually bring in much revenue for the program. As the program grows in popularity with new, big donors, I would expect them to demand decent seats that won't be available without a re-seating.

Just so you guys know, we're going to lose Saturday and everyone will be all 'the sky is falling'. Then we're going to win 7 in a row and everyone will be 'final four bound'.

I understand disagreeing with this post but who's the douche that 'disliked' it?

BTW :jimlad

It emptied out a LOT more than usual last night, starting about 5 mins to go. Including Cyclone Alley.

For the most part even a 6-8 point lead with just a few minutes left puts this group away. No one as a 'go-to' and nothing schematically to fall back on.

The defense has done pretty well but is out-manned most of the time...especially when someone like Holden is benched for not screwing up, which I thought was his role.

I'm hypocritical for ragging on Prohm the last couple of days but these last two games have solidified my doubts. Taking time to get things/players acclimated is one thing, and some times that takes through the conference season, but right now it's clear that he's not going to cater to what works best for this particular group and it's kind of astonishing in a way.

The wands didn't cost JP a dime. The batons were a promotional purchase by Greater Iowa Credit Union. JP won't spend any more money on the teams this year because he has everyone's money. He has already set the hype machine on overdrive for next year.
