Hawkeyes starting safety transferring

No one cares about Rutgers or Maryland.
You are touting TV success and recruiting at the same time.
Maryland not playing Duke in basketball is the biggest issue that fan base has with realignment.

Trust me, I know the area.

Because it’s more about money. Recruiting is also impacted. A school like Iowa and ISU have trouble going to Florida and getting kids that otherwise may go to a Central Florida or something. A reason is that they won’t get to play close to home. Now, Big Ten schools can tell Maryland and Virginia kids that they’ll play close to home.

You may know the area but I have a pretty good handle on what happened with Delaney and expansion. Penn State didn’t have a natural geographic rival. They also wanted to create a footprint on the east coast. Many fans wanted something like Pittsburgh and Syracuse but the powers that be in the conference wanted the DC and NYC markets for the network. Again, it’s worked out financially so far. Every cable model is hurting for subscribers. Tha certainly isn’t unique for college football.

So out of curiosity, here’s the rivals breakdown for the top 30 high school players in that State that choose Ohio State, Michigan, or Michigan State combined:
2014: 2
2015: 1
2016: 4
2017: 1
2018: 0
2019: 0
2020: only 1 high schooler has committed so far and it’s Virginia

LOL at your theory

Iowa was able to pull a pretty good basketball player out of DC in Garza. In the last two years, Iowa has gotten kids from Maryland, Virginia, and DC for football. Again, you’ve made up your mind so you just go there.

Make up my mind, LOL. I used an unbiased website, 247.

And your pretty good basketball player. Let me get to that one. Didn’t make first, second, third, honorable mention, freshman, sixth man, or sportsmanship end of year B1G award categories.

Good Lord man, get a grip.

He was like a borderline top 100 player who scored in double digits as a freshman. Little early to throw him away don’t you think? Does Iowa get him without Maryland being in the conference, no idea. Does Iowa get those kids from Maryland? No idea. But that’s part of why they did it. Again, you’ve made up your mind that the latest expansion was a horrible idea and shouldn’t have happened. I’ve attempted to explain the process behind the decision. Fwiw, many many Big Ten fans would agree with you. Time will tell though.

When did I indicate B1G expansion was bad? All I keep saying it was for TV and money. That's it.
Saying no one gives a **** about Rutgers and Maryland doesnt go hand in hand with your assumption of me thinking it's bad.
Please link where people have said ISU is a better program than Iowa too.

On God you're one of those that doesn't understand defense is part of basketball too

You’re simply incorrect. Western Pennsylvania is a thing in football. It’s obvious you’ve made your mind up so there’s that. Many Iowa fans questioned the addition of Rutgers and Maryland. So far, it seems to have worked with increased revenues to the schools. Certainly a bunch more than the big 12 is seeing.

Having 4 more P5 schools in the conference, 2 of which are in highly populated areas, has more revenue?

Ya don't say.

Per team? I think it’s like 50 million per team in the Big Ten. About what, 12-13 million less for the Big 12? Yeah that’s because there are more teams.

So yes, adding more teams, that happen to be in highly populated areas and do nothing else, led to more revenue for schools?

Depends on teams. When threes are added Texas makes more and I believe OU and somebody else is only a couple behind. Think our threes are only in the 3-4 MM right now. So we would be about 10 behind.

I guess my point is that the conference office did something right in adding those extra teams. Thankfully, the conference teams in the big ten are willing to equally share revenues to further the overall conference. Unlike some conferences who are all about the larger revenue teams.

This is where the big ten and xii ADs differ. Ten believes footprint with cable subscribers is the cash cow. Xii believes it will be internet streaming in the future. Believe that giving up a little now will pay larger dividends later.
