I hear you - but I still think a lot of this is these journalists framing stories to get the most viewership. During Iola's January "run," these reporters saw an opportunity to increase viewership by offering up some outlandish comments. Uthoff is a good player - but to call him the best in the state was only a way to capitalize on a team that was trending upwards. Too many people in this state don't want to hear about the truth of what's going on with ISU (which is incredible -- Georges all time winningest player for ISU & leading career scorer in the B12; 5 straight 20+ win seasons & NCAA appearances, etc). They want to believe that there is only drama. As CSP has pointed out - our team has done a lot of GREAT things this year - but his efforts to get players to buy in have generally been reported in such a way as to imply that our team is "a mess." I guess, sadly, that is what grabs viewership. And, perhaps with all those in-state players on the Hok team, journalists may be scared of offending the populous if they criticize Mad Fran's club?I'll be waiting for Eammon Brennan's ESPN article about Niang being the best player on the best team in the state. Since he's not a lifelong hawk fan I'm sure it's coming right? I mean that was just required professional journalism so I'm sure he'll issue an update.
