This thread has been fantastic. The delusion. The ankle biting. The self reflection. What a trip.
No matter how bad Iowa is, as long as ISU is going 2-10, it'll always be viewed as an upset when you beat Iowa. Nobody outside of the state cares one way or another. But when objective audiences see that score flash across the screen and ISU edges us out, sorry, but they'll think upset. Because ISU is 2-10, and Iowa is playing in the Outback Bowl. Of course it doesn't make sense and isn't really the upset as they think. But you're pretty stupid if you think they're going to ponder the SOS of Iowa and the rigors of the Big 12 for ISU and discuss with their drinking buddies the realities of the situation. They're not. They've seen Iowa win Orange Bowls and they've seen our guys drafted in the first round and they've seen Iowa finish in the top 10 and beat SEC teams in bowl games and KF and so on. And ISU in football is barely an afterthought. Not saying it's right, just saying that's the perception. If you think anyone outside of Ames doesn't regard an ISU win over Iowa as an upset, you're kidding yourself. Not because they think Iowa is anything special, just because a lot of them think ISU is an FCS program.
That's what D UP and Mesa don't get.
