If your basis for comparison is Todd Lickliter, my dog would be considered a successful head coach. And no, I don't think 6-7 wins is considered a smashing success, even for a football program as awful as Iowa State's...it's mediocre at best.
Holy hell.... My basis for comparison is Tood Lickliter? Haha well no **** sherlock, he was our last coach, and spent 3 years setting the program back a decade. He was absolutely a bench mark. Im having an impossible time trying to see what you are arguing. I literally spelled it out in my last post- success is relative. For Iowa, at that time, going to a the NIT was a success. Was it a big success? No, but for us it was. And it was a big enough success that it got fans energized about a team that was clearly trending in the right direction. Was it a small step, sure. But it was as tep in the right direction for a program that had been back peddling for years. Would it have been for Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, etc.? Absolutely not. But for Iowa, at that time, after having to endure the end of Alford, and Lickliter, an NIT birth was considered a success. How in the world arent you getting this?
