hawk fb program headed to the bottom

If your basis for comparison is Todd Lickliter, my dog would be considered a successful head coach. And no, I don't think 6-7 wins is considered a smashing success, even for a football program as awful as Iowa State's...it's mediocre at best.

Holy hell.... My basis for comparison is Tood Lickliter? Haha well no **** sherlock, he was our last coach, and spent 3 years setting the program back a decade. He was absolutely a bench mark. Im having an impossible time trying to see what you are arguing. I literally spelled it out in my last post- success is relative. For Iowa, at that time, going to a the NIT was a success. Was it a big success? No, but for us it was. And it was a big enough success that it got fans energized about a team that was clearly trending in the right direction. Was it a small step, sure. But it was as tep in the right direction for a program that had been back peddling for years. Would it have been for Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, etc.? Absolutely not. But for Iowa, at that time, after having to endure the end of Alford, and Lickliter, an NIT birth was considered a success. How in the world arent you getting this?

That's the difference between you and me. I don't lie about my school's basketball team to make me feel better about myself.

I personally dont consider it first round, but to be fair the NCAA, technically, recognizes it as the first round.

So you have a very, very low bar for success...got it. Now excuse me while I go LOL.

Play in games don't count as an appearance but Prohm has a top 10 team now because of Hoiberg. What he does going forward is all him though.

Just always find it funny everyone blames Lickliter for Fran but Hoiberg made 4 NCAA tournament appearances and he was in the same situation when he took over. ISU would have beat UAB if it wasn't for McDermott!

I love ISU fans switched this to basketball somehow, yet try to poke fun of Iowa fans for ever bringing up football.

Fran is far enough removed now from Lick that it's on him and has been the last few years but his first year or two were absolutely a result of Lick.

Similarly, Prom's success this year will be because of Hoiberg. Anything after this year will be on Prom.

If Prohm doesn't have success it will be McDermott's fault

Clones sucked you guys into turning another football thread into a basketball thread.

Seriously, Clones. It's September.

And because everyone in the world except hawkeye fans realizes how stupid that was...this.

We're talking about 2014. When Iowa played in the First Four, recognized by the NCAA as the first round. You know, because the round of 64 was considered the second round.

Oh my god, its called improving. IMPROVEMENT. Your logic is absolutely ridiculous. By your standards, you shouldnt get excited, at all, when your team improves. You can only get excited when they turn out stellar seasons? Even after theyve been in the basement of their conference? What about all of those ISU fans who got excited, and went to the bowl game after your 6 win season? I assume their idiots for getting excited about improvement too, huh?

Regardless.. it was called the first round for many years. When Iowa played, it was the first round. And you lost to UAB as a 3 seed.

Now then -- football, anyone?

5 years out of the tournament's 76 is considered "many"? Okay...

People used to think dinosaurs were reptiles, too...it doesn't mean that they actually were.

Maybe they are idiots, but it's not like they don't know the difference between they're and their...
