That's one of those things we'll never know. What we do know is they played once and Michigan St. proved to be the better team, and ended up ranked higher. I think if they did play 10 games MSU would have the edge. Sure Baylor put up 42 on them, but they didn't score a point in the final 20+ minutes of the game. With a defense as good as MSU's, give them game after game to continue adjusting to what Baylor does offensively and the Bears offensive production consistently goes down, just like it did over the course of that single game. Baylor's best chance at beating the Spartans was their first shot at them.
