Hallice Cooke

Hate speculating on players that would transfer out, but aren't SDW's hands tied until he graduates since he used his red-shirt already?

Radford?! LOL

I would transfer too if I was HC. Oregon State is going to be awful even with him. Fran Fraschilla tweeted that NBA guys are interested in HC's progress going forward.

With ISU on him first and a little in with Hogue, I'd say our chances are pretty good.

Seems to be a good fit. He learns alot sitting out, then provides another scorer once BDJ leaves. Hope he doesn't shy away due to the fact we'll have Monte, Matt, Naz, Custer, and SDW already on board. But like everyone says, we can always use good shooters, players, etc. SDW seems to need to play the '3', whereas Cooke appears to be a "1 or 2". Like the three years left to play. He needs to think about coming to a winning program, play with alot of good players, versus just being the star on any ole team. He'd have been more of that at Oregon State and he left, so I hope he sees that Iowa State might just be the place. Do your magic Hogue.

We've heard every year about how he is dominating in the offseason?

I have not once heard that about him, ever. I've heard has a lot of potential, but never that he is "dominating"

Agree, many here have comprehension issues regarding off-season improvement vs domination (especially in summer leagues with no defense), including both SDW and AT.

He could transfer and have 1 year to play after sitting out. Right?

Two words for ya. Focus. Town.

While I agree focus town has benifited a lot of ISU's past transfers. From all I have read, "focus" isn't an issue for Hallice. He was reported to be one of the hardest workers on the Beaver team last year. So much so he went from not expecting to contribute his freshman year to starting and averaging over 30 mpg towards the end PAC 10 pay. His coach singled out his hard work in the gym as the reason why. (I'd also point to his 3 pt % as a result of that too.)
This looks to be more of an issue of him wanting a chance to play in the NCAA tournament in his case, and OSU isn't expected to be there for a couple of years. This could factor into a the school he wants to choose, which should help the Cyclones case.

If he were to transfer, I would think this would be the year, so that he would have 2 to play after sitting next season.

He's already burned his redshirt, if he leaves after this season he will only have one year of eligibility left unless he gets a waiver to play immediately. I would guess it's him and Matt playing for one spot going forward if we land this guy.

SDW was a rsFr this year. He has 3 more years left. And I wish this kind of speculation would stop.

After this season, meaning the 14-15 year. He would have played two and redshirted one, three down, two years left, one of which he would have to sit out after transferring.

Am I the only one around here that is expecting a major failure from a transfer coming up? I don't know who it is but we haven't had one since that one big guy in 2011-2012 from Illinois State or whatever. I can't even remember his name

Bluford was a bomb as far as transfers go. People thought he was going to fill that Naz/McGee role. It happens all the time, you just don't hear about it, because Fred gets the best players possible put out on the court. Why do you think he only went with a main line-up of 7 guys last year.

You mean Anthony Booker? I wouldn't call him a complete "failure"… he had his role on that team and you could say we have more "failures" from traditional high school recruits than from transfers that were brought in...

I would agree, Booker put up the kind of numbers you would expect from someone who had produced like he had against mid-major competition.

I will forever be thankful that Book was a Cyclone. He hit a 3 pointer (or two?) against KU in Hilton during his first season at a critical time that helped us get the W.

Pretty sure it means he would go 894/895 on his senior season from downtown. His sole miss would a full court heave that hangs on the rim for 12 seconds before falling out due to the collective exhale of one side of Hilton while the other side collectively inhales. Fred only lets him shoot ten max a game as it gives the other team the illusion of having a chance to win.

How does he shoot 895 threes in a year when he can only shoot 10 per game?

You are thinking of Booker, and how was he a 'failure'? Is it because he wasn't all-conference?

Obviously some transfers are going to have impacts than others. I think we are at the point where if a transfer doesn't work out, it won't hurt us in the grand scheme of things with the depth we will have going into the future.
