Going to my first PGA event!

Wow, this is why I dislike golf I didn't know you had to dress a certain way just to watch someone hit a ball with a metal stick.

Ya, I mean how hard is it to wear a golf shirt? Damn golfers making us dress all fancy just to see them go whack a golf ball into a little hole!

Hope you were on/near the 16th green when Tiger pulled off yet another miracle shot!!
Love him or hate him, the guy's great for the game of golf and energizes crowds like nobody I've ever seen!!

No, he's bad for the game. Too much coverage for a guy that rarely wins. Just like watching NASCAR.

Reporter: "DANICA! DANICA! WHAT WENT THROUGH YOUR MIND WHEN YOU CRASHED AND FINISHED 30th??!!"

Danica: "The same thing I told you every other time. I wanted get the race over with so I could get back to godaddy.com. Nationwide insurance provided me with a free laptop."

I posted about this in the other Tiger thread, but if popularity and coverage of golf in general is what the fan is looking for, I don't see how you can say Tiger is bad for golf. Granted, they talk a lot about him, but if he isn't doing well, I wouldn't even know golf is on. If stagnant/dropping ratings is what golf is after, then yes, Tiger is terrible for the game.

Believe me, I understand why purists hate the guy though.

So did you wear your golf shoes?

No. Also for those of you crucifying me, my golf shoes are all black and look like athletic shoes, I would never wear a classic leather saddle shoe or anything.

I just wore a polo and khaki shorts. Had a BLAST. It was so much fun and I will definitely try to get back to another event if I have a chance. Camped out at #3 and watched the approaches over the water, then watched hole #8 which had a HUGE gallery for tiger crammed onto a tiny par 3. Then on #14 I saw another set of approach shots over water onto that narrow green. Had a gorgeous view of the fairway and saw the flight of the ball from the side which was really cool. (See forbidden cell phone photo, attached).

Thanks for the advice guys! Anybody thinking about going to a PGA event, GO! It was so cool!

EDIT: I was REALLY irritated with people yelling "Tiger" whenever he was walking up to the green. He knows his name! We know his name! Just applaud like you do for everyone else. Also, for the love of God only cheer when he DOES something. People were cheering when he missed the green...

Yes, because being tied for second in all time career victories is similar to never winning a race.

He's had 2 wins in the last 3 years. They both came this year. They cover him more than any other golfer. There are way better golfers, he'll win some every once in a while.

Give him the right amount of coverage for how good he is, not how good he used to be.

one of the greatest golfers of all time, the most popular golfer of all time. With the biggest story line of any golfer.

Good plan, stop covering him. You have a future in media.

there are way better golfers? no, not when his game is honed in like it was this past sunday. the only thing other golfers have who are "better" than him right now is consistency. tiger is the greatest/ most talented golfer that there ever was and probably ever will be. what got him there was talent, hard work, but most importantly and incredible psychological advantage over everyone else. he lost that advantage when his dirty laundry was aired to the public

Dang, first tourney is The Memorial? Nice. I'm sure every event forward will be a letdown. One of the finest courses and tournaments on Tour

I interned at KCRG and help cover the John Deere Classic two years ago. It was a hot day and a lot of walking which I know this sounds simplistic, but make sure you are hydrated.

Please tell me your posse didn't follow every move by Hok Zach Johnson and scramble all day to get him to talk about his beloved Hawkeyes:confused:

I'd have to believe people who don't like Tiger - probably don't play golf. I don't know how you can't appreciate the most talented player the game has ever seen.

I had great respect for him, until I found out he was dating 30 women that weren't his wife.

He had a great chip shot. One of his best ever IMO.

But I really don't want to watch someone have a temper tantrum every time theyre not winning.
