My friend's dad has tickets to the Memorial, and gave us his final round tickets for Sunday! I'm really excited. Anybody ever been to a PGA event? Nobody in my group has ever been to one so does anybody have tips on what to do and what to expect? What should I wear, particularly shoes? I don't want to wear dress shoes since I'll be walking a lot. Would it be stupid to wear my golf shoes?

Worked at a US Open and have been to several other events (Phoenix, John Deere).

Dress like you're going to play golf. Some will wear golf shoes, but any tennis shoes should be ok. Bring umbrella if rain nearby. Sunscreen if no rain.

Can either pick a group to follow or pick a location that allows easy access to a tee-box and green/approach that you can alternate between.

It all goes well with cold beer. Enjoy!

I know some events will not allow you to wear golf shoes and trust me you don't want them unless it's raining. Just wear tennis shoes. For the love of god DO NOT wear denim or some stupid graphic tee. And for that matter don't be a tool shed and try to look like Rickie Fowler. Look the part, but don't try to stand out. Don't be "that guy," who screams get in the hole when it's a par 4 tee shot..or any shot. I have plenty more don't do's but it would take all day.

Have fun watching El Tigre win!

Bahahaha this is such a solid post. When I get to computer, you must get rep.

Like others have said, wear tennis shoes. Don't be "that guy" and wear golf shoes. I've volunteered several years ago for the John Deere Classic and I attended the 2003 British Open at Royal St. George's. Make sure to at least search out the big names, just so that you can say you've seen them, even it it's on the range.

I interned at KCRG and help cover the John Deere Classic two years ago. It was a hot day and a lot of walking which I know this sounds simplistic, but make sure you are hydrated.

I like to get there early and follow a group for a couple of holes and then go to a par 3 and park it in the grandstands for the rest of the day. That way you get to see everyone and have a great view at an approach shot.

dear god dont wear golf shoes you dont need grip to hit a ball, youre just walking around

This. Nothing I look more forward to more than taking my golf shoes off after a round. Wearing them just to walk around is crazy talk and is reserved for d-bags and wannabees.

Just out of The Memorial, wear tennis shoes, golf shirt (or some type of collared shirt) and denim shorts. Course is in great shape and the views are excellent on every hole. Have a great time!

Dear God, can this fad please die already? If I was actually at a tournament and anyone within arm's length from me screamed anything just nanoseconds after a player made contact with the ball, I would knock them out. And I'm sure everyone around me would applaud with gusto, as this has to be the most boorish, annoying behavior of all time.

The Scots must hate what us 'Mericans have done to their beloved game.

I wish I had these comments when I went to john deer a couple of years ago. I just wore athletic shorts since it was hot and looked likean idiot.

Been to the Bridgestone Invitational the past 10 years.. my suggestion is to find a spot that has shade on a green with a nearby Tee Box. My location every year is the 17th Grandstands and I can turn around and watch them tee the 18th. I'm in the shade ALL day and it is a short Par 4 so there is some unique approaches.

Wow, this is why I dislike golf I didn't know you had to dress a certain way just to watch someone hit a ball with a metal stick.

I thought about going, but after working at OHSAA State Track meet at Jesse Owens Stadium all day Friday and Saturday, I was not feeling like standing around all day again. Hope you guys had fun!

Hope you were on/near the 16th green when Tiger pulled off yet another miracle shot!!
Love him or hate him, the guy's great for the game of golf and energizes crowds like nobody I've ever seen!!
