Those of you with Windows 7, how did your drivers do with the upgrade? I would be interested in trying 7 on my laptop but am nervous about what will and will not work. When I tried to downgrade to XP I couldn't get drivers for a lot of the extra buttons, bluetooth, or my wireless card.
4gb of ram and 2 years with Vista. No problems except Itunes doesn't always play well. I rarely see over 50% of my memory being used even with 6-7 apps open at once.
Vista is fine for me - i actually like it. funny how it has become the vogue thing to bash Vista.
I am a Linux (Ubuntu) and WinXP user. Got my very first Vista system last week. Never really needed one until recently; I was fine with my Pentium 4 systems, then found a deal I couldn't refuse on a Core 2 Duo for $225 on the Dell outlet store 'scratch & dent' section. Came with Vista, of course.
I am amazed at just how incredibly horrible Vista is. It is a total piece of trash. I still have an old Pentium 3 box lying somewhere, with 256M of RAM running XP. It is lightning fast compared to this 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo box with 2G of RAM running Vista. And, yes, I do have the BIOS option enabled to make sure both cores are being used.
I just got done burining a new Ubuntu 8.10 disc (can''t find where I placed my old one) so I can blow away Vista and replace it with Ubuntu. On a Core 2 Duo, Ubuntu should FLY.
Buy a mac and you pay way too much for a bunch of marketing fluff.Buy a Mac you get the best of all worlds. Period.

Exactly.
My parents bought a MAC and its great for an email and internet machine. Other than that, not much else wows me. Too pricey for something so basic.
We bought a computer over Christmas that came with Vista and have had a ton of problems. CIV4 crashes without warning and ITUNES gives us communications errors.
I wish I had XP on the box. If I had a copy, I'd put it on in a heartbeat.
Yes, it seems that way. I have alot of people here at work ***** about vista that they have at home and their issues with it are always user error. But they heard from a friend of a friend that Vista is supposed to suck so they just say so.
