Games Cancelled

As for "why can't ISU find a way to make something work?" I assume options were explored involving both programs/schools for rescheduling for earlier game time or postponement, and this decision was considered most realistic.

Drake was able to re-schedule. How is a school with 10 times the budget not able to re-schedule?

We just got a potentially team-changing addition eligible and now he will have 1 game of experience in 2 years before we take on the best conference in the country...
Tre King has been playing better competition every single practice for the last two years. Him playing against Omaha will not make him any more ready to play Baylor lol. I'm telling you, Omaha is AWFUL.

They've been talking about this potential major storm on the news since last Friday. It's not like they didn't have advanced notice, now we are a day away from the gsme and they are caught off guard.

We played Sunday and they played yesterday so what are the options? Think Omaha was going to play back to back nights?

How do we know anyone was “caught off guard”? Maybe discussions began Friday about the possibility of needing to postpone - and reached the decision to keep game as scheduled, and if it became necessary to cancel due to weather, that would be the path. I don't know what the process was.

Lol, yeah, why not? We played Villanova and UNC back to back nights. A team can't handle playing Denver and Iowa State back to back?
It's a little bit different playing in a Holiday tournament than them having to travel almost 3 hours after playing a game. I'm in agreement that they could've done it but how would it be ISU's fault if Omaha said no?

Game reps >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Practice

No one in the world in their right mind would rather practice over competing.
I mean obviously. I'm just telling you that Tre playing against Omaha is not as big of a factor as you're making it. He looked as smooth as butter against WMU and there was nothing out there that made me think he needed to play another tomato can to get his feet underneath him.

I am likely over stating the importance of playing against Omaha. But to not play a game in 2 weeks before playing in the hardest conference is going to lead to rust early on. It was going to be an issue before the game got cancelled. Even more now

I can’t believe this is now at 7 pages of this bull crap crying of canceling 2 games my lord give these student athletes a break for the holidays some have a ways to travel home for Christmas, if you want a game so bad At Hilton go set a couple of portable hoops outside in the parking lot the next 2 days and then good luck trying to make it home with blizzard like conditions, merry Christmas cyclone nation and be safe!!

Rest vs. Rust argument though so some could say we're going to be far more rested than Baylor is. And I just looked at past year's schedules and we've had these longer breaks ever since the '15-'16 season. This year isn't different other than the fact that the game vs. Omaha got cancelled.

Honestly if we'd have had a game scheduled for next week on like Wednesday and THAT game got cancelled, I'd be far more worried about the one right before our guys are going on break. They were going on break anyway.

Well it's 10 days vs. 13 days to wait so not that big of a difference.

If ISU wanted to avoid this as a problem they should have scheduled a bye game for like 10/28 like Baylor did.

Last season it was about the same gap (12/21-1/1) and ISU came out and played a very good game against a Baylor team that also played very well. I'm guessing somewhere in the coaches' circle they know how to prepare for the situation.

Of course if they rescheduled or played tomorrow night and someone got injured CF would be all over the 'this is why you give the players some time off instead of these nonsense games!! Fred never had this big of a gap between games!' (he did).

Moving the game to tonight was not an option.

It would of been nice if they could of moved the game up in the day tomorrow. Play at like noon or 2PM for example. That is happening with other games in the region.
They wanted the players to get out ahead of the storm so they could be with their families on Christmas. The storm hits tomorrow afternoon.

13-day gap between non-con and conference play... This is incompetence by our administrators, completely unacceptable.

Concerns for injury, lack of rhythm having 2 weeks off from games, and adding another win to your tournament resume come to mind first and foremost.

If we miss the tournament by having only 17 wins instead of 18. This will be the reason.
Lmao, imagine deciding JP is incompetent due to cancelling a buy-game so student-athletes can make it home for Christmas safely.

As usual, there is so much more to the situation than we will ever know

… until Chris writes the book. Maybe this can be a footnote on the Drake football game chapter.

There is a lot of true stupidity in this thread for sure.

The number of Cyclone fans who think that rescheduling a Division I basketball game with less than two days notice is as simple as ordering take out is a bit depressing.
