All 4 suspended guys are back in the 2 deeps, Hockaday replaces Jones as the starting MLB.
Need to attack Iowa's weak LB's and try to make their WR's beat us in the passing game instead of the TE's

It will be an interesting chess match. Iowa had some success using 3 TE’s last week. I will be interested to see how ISU tries to defend that if we do that again this week.
And Niemann and Welch played well for the most part. Jones struggled big time and was yanked and Hockaday was OK.
Hard to say the LBs were weak. Nieman and Welch both looked pretty good, Jones not so much. Hockaday looked decent.
I do agree with your strategy though. Montgomery out of the back field scares me.
Well it was Northern Illinois. I'd love to see Iowa keep 3 LB's out there all game. Run out 4-5 WR's and see what happens
NIU should be a top half FBS team at the end of the year so definitely not a cupcake opener. ISU will definitely be a much bigger challenge though, that is for sure.
I think running 4-5 WR’s out there consistently is asking a lot of your OL against Iowa’s pass rush.
I was told Jones was your best LB going into this season and he already got benched. That's a matchup we can and should try to exploit

Not if he is one of the wide outs.Plus with 5 WRs, it takes ISU's best player off the field.
No one knew who the best lb was going to be because they are all brand new and have never played in a game before. Jones was getting good remarks from the coaches, but was terribly out of position a number of times on Saturday. Hockaday was solid. Nieman and Welch looked pretty good.
Like I said, it was against a bad offensive team
NIU was a decent running team last year with a good offensive line. It is fair to say they are a bad passing team, or at least were Saturday. How much of that was due to Iowa’s coverage?

IMO this is where our 3 man front becomes a huge weapon if we can contain the run. Disguise your coverage and double team Fant all day and make the WR's make plays.
