Friday OT #1 - That Funny Old Feeling

I have friends whose kids attend the school I graduated from. They talk about this one teacher who at times will just shoot out the back door to his class room and leave. He appears later in the day with different pants on, sometimes he has stained pants walking around. He is probably late 30s or so. No idea how you have that many bowel issues at that age. Start wearing depends if you know you struggle.

I have a yearly Manhattan at Christmas.

Started the tradition at the Grant Hotel in San Diego. We'd see a Christmas show down the street every year. The Grant makes a wonderful Manhattan.

My Manhattans now aren't nearly as good, but I'm keeping the tradition alive as well as possible

Literally most Thanksgiving food. Roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, etc.
I really don't care for most of that stuff during the year. The only way I like mashed during the year is like an open faced hot beef sandwich.
 
I am trying to remember what I get about every 6-8 months that I think is going to be great and when I'm half done, go this stinks. My kids remind me of it when I get it. I must be getting close to that time since I have forgotten what it is.

One thing I do do about every 3 years or so, is say I need to sit down and read a book. I grab a book, sit down and 10 minutes later, think to myself I'm bored and could be learning about something, or if its a non fiction book, realize I could learn some other way faster. I set the book down and don't return to it.

I really don't like reading books but think listen to people who yammer on about them and think I should at times.

I am always chosen to make oyster dressing on Thanksgiving. It’s basically oyster stew solidified by baking with lots of crackers. I always feel like we may need to mortgage the house to pay for the oysters.

I used to re-read the Lord of the Rings every few years because my older brother got me into it when I a was a kid. It's been a few years, so I'm probably due again.

My mom would make pancakes when I was young and it was about the only thing that she cooked well so when I visit once/year I request one morning of pancakes.

I also only eat Caseys Taco if I visit Iowa but that's more frequent.
 
Several holiday specific foods
- corned beef and cabbage
- turkey, pumpkin pie, stuffing, cranberry sauce, black olives
- Oktoberfest foods: treipen, head cheese, German potato salad
- duck
