Friday #2 - Jim Duggan

Piggybacking wrap a beer in a wet paper towel and throw it in the freezer for 20 mins to get a warm beer ice cold
There's the spinning it in a bowl of ice water trick that works pretty well too. The spinning moves the liquid inside the can around to facilitate a faster heat transfer, but does not agitate it enough to shakeup the beer.

A small piece of wood on the garage floor is a great indicator when your vehicle is deep enough in the garage.

Assuming, of course, it is placed correctly and the kids leave it alone.
After getting them in the right position, my wife put a Sharpie mark on the floor just in case they get moved.

Are you only adding grass clippings when the lawn hasn't gone to seed?

I try not to. Usually I just mulch my clippings into my lawn when I mow but will throw the bagger on when I need some clippings for the garden. Never had grass grow in the garden from those clippings.

Or the other adult living in your house doesn’t just run over god damn thing and keep driving because “hey, this massive bump I’m feeling in the car couldn’t possible be some kind of indicator.”

Neon color swim noodles to use as a buffer on low rafters in attic, slice and wrap

I should do that under my deck. It's stoop down and crab walk height underneath and I am hitting my head on the joists above. It's my winter fencing, old wood, mulch and planet pots storage area.

Kayaking:
A section of thin parachord with nylon filling works well for the rear point of contact for tying down on the car roof, and doubles as a paddle leash.

If you need to quickly march to the ring to put the evil foreigner in his place, and you have your American flag, but you don't have a flag pole, a length of 2x4 will do just fine in that circumstance.

I use a couple of the corkscrew dog tie downs and a couple of steel choke chain collars with steel chain caribiners to tie down the trampoline after I move it to mow. I don't have to worry about high winds in a storm blowing it into my neighbors' or my window.

I use 4 of these and ratchet straps after a storm sent our trampoline into the neighbors yard.

If you're somewhat familiar with excel: vlookup on steroids.

Basically you can look up a value and return data from different columns from anywhere in the spreadsheet with out some of the constraints that vlookup has (it can look to the left of lookup value, etc).

So between the two commas before the 0, is that where you put your column heading that you want to use?

Wood splinters, or golf tees:

I use wood splinters when a screw rips out the threads in wood or particle board, just shove the splinter down the hole, the screw will have something to tighten against.
Similar idea with the golf tee, if I miss while predrilling a hole in wood by a smidge, shove a golf tee in there cut the top flush with the surface and predrill in the right spot.
You can also use several toothpicks in a pinch. I prefer the flat ones but it's like creamy vs chunky. Whatever you prefer.

These also work for the legs of your canopy or tent. You never know when a sudden gust of wind will toss it across the neighborhood (and/or into your or a neighboring car.) Not recommended for paved lots when tailgating at JTS.
