Fear the Walking Dead?

There is a theory out there that, given that there seem to be two infections (the initial one that makes everyone turn, and the one you only get from bites) that the initial virus may manifest itself as something with flu-like symptoms in some, but apparently not all people

Maybe I missed it but why didn't the boyfriend mention getting bit.

Because the writing for this show is pretty bad and the things people are doing don't make much sense. I'm trying to like it, but I just can't get there yet. I'll give it 1-2 more weeks.

I didn't really understand why the guy looked at the bite and never mentioned it.

The things people are doing don't make much sense but they are also seeing a lot of really weird stuff in a short period of time. People being bit, dying and then reanimating. In the real world you would be pretty confused. In the real world how do you tell people that the dead are reanimating and are hungry for human flesh?

The fat kid is ******* me off because it reminds me of Scream where Jamie Kennedy kept explaining the rules to horror movies. The kid is explaining the rules to society crumbling. Can't wait to see him get it.

Yeah, the way the characters act don't make a lot of sense. They showed the bite on his neck. There is no way a high school kid is going to get bit and subsequently sick and have an attitude of accepting his fate when he supposedly doesn't really know what's going on.

And that fat kid seems to know what to do but for some reason thinks that steak knife he had was really important.

I made a point after the pilot that the first character with speaking lines that was killed off was a black dude. (drug dealer). Now the principal and the daughters BF. No white characters have died/turned yet that have at least more than one speaking line. I made the original point based on that one black characters dying in WD conspiracy theory.

I'm wondering if this "flu" is the initial symptoms of the virus that EVERYONE has. The virus that for most people lays dormant until you die of other causes. I think it's possible that some people get flu like symptoms and have a chance of dying from it, while others just carry it until they die of other causes.

A large percentage of people having this flu like disease and dying from it would dramatically escalate the initial numbers of walkers. The hospitals and government have been trying to limit the damage by taking care of all dead bodies from hospitals, but anyone who dies outside of a hospital ends up a huge risk. The ones we've seen running amok have been people who died in car accidents, a bum who died on the street, drug dealer who was shot, or the principal at the school who looked like he was stabbed.

Finally, we see the neighbor who went from having flu symptoms to dead in a short time.

The fat kid is just another example of a character behaving in an unbelievable manner. He seems to know the future about the fall of society, which is strange by itself, but for some reason he goes back to school to get a 2 inch knife. What kind of sense does that make? Oh and then he abandons all of the food he was gathering and casually goes home.

It's bad. No sense defending it. Hopefully it gets better.

He knows the future of the fall of society in the same way doomsday preppers know obama's bringing it on in the real world... it's just in this case the kid's right

I don't think the flu is causing the virus, I think it was the flu vaccine that causes people to turn. The principle said in episode 1 he got his vaccination, episode 2 he is a walker. They were making a big deal about the flu and getting your vaccinations in episode 1.

I was thinking this as well but hope it is not the case. Hard enough to get people to get their flu shots.:twitcy:

I've said this before in TWD thread but good shows get people talking and that's exactly what's happening. It may not end up being as great as TWD but it says something when people talk about a show all week dissecting it and discussing what might happen in the next episode.
