FB "mini-packs" (3 or 4 game)

So the consenus here is you would rather see empty seats then a full stadium.

I know this has been stated before, but if you are a donating season ticket holder and are now looking for a bargain maybe you shouldn't be a donating season ticket holder. You can wait for the bargains, or just quit being a fan. If you would rather ***** about trying to be inventive to sell tickets then just put a sock in it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the way the AD is doing this and zero reason to beetch about it IMO.

I think it is a fair topic for debate. Agree or disagree, it is a topic of how sales and donors are handled.

Based on a current news report today, it looks like about 1,200 tickets were returned that are being offered as the mini-paks.

Historically donors, by giving level have been offered first chance at single tickets before they go on sale. Also, historically, the donor demand for single Iowa game tickets has outstripped public demand. In 2005 (this is from memory so it is +/ 20%) there were 36,000 donor orders for the 18,000 available single IA/ISU game at Ames.

So, perhaps they felt they did not have enough to offer, or only offered them to the highest level donors. I saw posted on one board, that someone said they had gotten a letter offering them an option as a donor. On the contrary side, I have seen posted where some $5,000 and $2,500 donors did not get a letter offer. So, I am not sure what actually happend.

Personally, as I see it this is decision they have to make in the best marketing interests to sell ISU tickets. However, as part of this, they still need to take care of donors who have been supporters by paying in advance.

3. Donors stepped up early bought season tickets, and then single tickets in advance. This would have included the only option offered for $60 hillside tickets for the Iowa game. As I undestand it, if you call the ticket office, they will exchange them.

But what if you are out of town, miss this and as a donor you bought hillside in advance and the policies are changed and you did not catch it.

One donor bought 4 NDSU, and 6 IA game tickets for Cyclone friends who can only make one game. They ordered them in advance on the donor form with the only option being hillside for IA game gickets. Cost for the order came to $520.

With the minipak for $80 more they can get 2 more NDSU tickets, have all 6 IA game seats in the stands and 6 CO tickets. The ticket office says they can trade so everything works out for them.

But what if you are a donor who is on vacation, does not get them ordered Monday and they run out etc. Someone in this position has a right to be raising a complaint.

We need to be flexible and have promotions to sell tickets and frankly our ticket office does a very good job working with customers. However, I feel donors were, at some level left out of the process here prior to public sales.

Just my opinion.

Great post CyAggie.....I think you've laid out the pros and cons of it all. Sounds like the ISu ticket office works hard to please everyone when situations like this come up.

I should clarify, im not really complaining in earlier posts. I guess just not knowing the amount of season ticket sales to date, and where exactly these packs are going to land leads to questions on my part.

As long as the jack is full of cardinal and gold this fall...thats the important thing.

Yep, I agree. Fill the stadium. If you are in a position to donate and get season tickets then be glad you are in that position and pray like hell the seats are filled with cardinal and gold. It was brought up earlier but this team has lost 10 straight games...we've not seen a successful season in nearly 4 years. If the AD does not start getting creative the growth of the fan base will suffer and we'll all still be on here in 10 years ******** about the corners of the stadium being empty.

In theory this sounds good.

In practice it just doesn't work. If you pay $350 for season tickets and donate $500 or $1000 or more for your seats because our AD said "championships cost money", sit through a season watching a 2-10 team, then in the last games people are sitting next to you for $10, you're going to be ****** off. It is human nature -- there is no way to avoid it.

What some of you BVDV fan club members are forgetting is that some of us are members of the NCC and buy regular price season tickets because we are Cyclone fans and want to support the athletic department whether we're coming off a 2-win season or a bowl season. So at the end of the season when I've been cheering on my team, doing my part to support them financially, and enjoying some of the best tailgating in the land, I could care less if someone just walked in off the street with $10 and got a ticket and a free t-shirt and is sitting in my section. I'd prefer that person NOT be an opposing fan just for the sake of my enjoyment of the game, but at least there is a butt in the seat. It doesn't lessen the value of my donation.

Exactly how I feel. I am a donor but not a season ticket holder because I can't make it to all the games. But I still donate to help the athletic department.

How much financial help is required to go 0-8 in the Big XII???

I also could give a rat's arse if the guy sitting next to me bought tickets for $10 at the end of the year and I'm a $2500 donor.

I enjoy the experience of following Cyclone FB win or lose. I certainly don't get hung up if the guy sitting next to me spent $100 for his tickets and I spent $350.

Does anyone know where the thread went that had Coach Rhoads calling your actual phone... the promotional one? help please

This promo will be getting me to buy two of them, which includes having my hawk fan(I know) wife come to two extra games(actually had her wear an ISU shirt last year). Had it not been for this we would be scalping tickets since I am never sure what games I can/cannot make.

Does anyone know when this starts, 12am, 8am, etc...?

I certainly understand this, but there are others who don't. They are offended if they sit near someone who didn't pay as much as they did.

It's been this way forever. Heck...back in the day, I would buy a $11 hillside ticket for every game and then go sit on the 50yd line to watch the game. It's going to be this way until we win and sell more season tickets with donors.

You can move the seat locations on the tickets in the mini paks if you wanted, but if there are open seats in the middle of the field, those folks will just sit where they want.

Quit gripin and just enjoy the college gameday atmosphere.

I respect where you are at on this.

Donors donate because they want to support the program

On the flip side, please understand some will feel differently and again it is fair to voice a complaint. Let them have their say as well.

I don't think offended is the right word, something like annoyed might be better. When people are told they have to pay a certain amount of money for the rights to buy their tickets and then other people get the same seats without paying, I don't think it is unreasonable that some people get annoyed - more with the system, not necessarily with the people. The annoyance level is probably directly related to how large a percentage the "required" donation is to your disposable income.

As someone else mentioned when we get to the point that the demand is greater than the supply this won't be such a big issue.

I posted that and it vanished approx. 8 hours later. I never cared to ask why but I assume it was not supposed to be realeased yet. My bad.
