F1 2023 Discussion

Not sure either but there could be some opportunities next year

More seriously, the 2024 silly season is going to be quite silly with all those contracts expiring.

Looks like the FIA has approved Andretti's application for F1. Now the really messy part starts where the Formula One Management has their say and I'm not sure I like their chances of moving forward.

What a mess. Piastri, who got bumped up to the top 3 after Lando's lap got deleted, finds out his lap was deleted from the interviewer while doing his top 3 interview.

This is going to be a repeat of Austria where track limits will dominate the weekend.

There are a lot of things I don't like about these new style tracks, but the track limit thing has to be my least favorite. I get the safety factor and it does make a lot of sense from that perspective, but essentially, having a giant parking lot with lines painted on it is just asking for drivers to push beyond the limits. There is no real punishment for going off the track, other than your lap being deleted or eventually a time penalty during the race.

There is a reason you don't see this happen at the older style tracks like Spa, you go off the track there, you got bigger problems than a lap time deletion. It's just odd to me that you can have your entire car off the track, but you didn't even realize it until someone tells you. I wish there was a safe way to go back to only gravel traps and grass beyond the curbs.

I agree 100 percent

Yeah, I'm not sure what the best answer is but it sucks having track limits be such a major factor. Like today, the checkered flag isn't the end of the race, you have to sit around and wait for all of the video reviews to see where everyone finished.
