F1 2023 Discussion

Checo is broken, I wouldn’t be surprised if he already has been told he’s out and they just won’t announce until after the season.

Stroll and Perez are both broken. Stroll had some pretty good races early this season. Danny Ric back next race . So that should be fun

Didn't realize just how bad the conditions were yesterday until reading some stuff today. Ocon was throwing up, a handful of them immediately went to the medical center at the end. Stroll looked drunk he was so tired when he was getting out of his car.

The Formula Why podcast (official F1 content) had an episode recently where they went through the physio effects the drivers experience, and it was really enlightening. They are indeed peak endurance athletes. A race is basically like running an extreme marathon except you're also taking in loads of information while trying not to die at 300km/h. Now try to do that in the Qatari heat and you really have a punishing environment. My respect for the drivers really went up.

After watching some of the interviews and stuff I don’t know how they didn’t call the race at the time. I also don’t know how there weren’t any wrecks at the tail end. Stroll said the last 25-30 laps his vision was a blur and was basically passing out on the high speed corners. Stuff like that had to have been all over the radio.

A couple drivers said they tried to open their visors to get some air and all they got was sand. Evidently Sargent drives without a hydration bottle. The fire suits were soaked completely through which makes heat transfer increase by a ton. Props to Williams for putting driver safety above finishing the race.

I enjoy the Sprint format. Keeps the entire weekend interesting.
I don't mind the traditional format of P1, P2, P2, Q1, Q2, Q3, R. But I won't usually tune in for any of the practice sessions. I'll just catch the headlines.

Love the sprints, but I want to see them experiment with how they set the grid for it. Two qualifying sessions that are only difference is time limits is kind of boring and has to be confusing for casual fans. Just use next year to try out some different ideas, reverse grid and variants, single lap qualifying, and whatever sounds interesting.

I think some reverse grid would be really interesting for sprint races. Teams probably wouldn't like it though as you put a lot of the high rank cars and drivers at risk with them being so much faster and in the back of the pack.
