Expectations for 2018-2019

the only reason prohm should get a little pass is because of injuries.
he seems like a really bad coach to me
i do acknowledge his recruiting is okay
does he even coach offense?
the big 12 is terrible year after year in the big dance
will be even worst this year
we finished 10th dead last in a very crappy conference
serious post here i really think he is bad
i so hope im wrong and you can pull this post back up next year and the whole board can laugh at me; ill laugh at myself
we finally saw a little anger from him in the oklahoma game; he was mad at brace for doing something or other; this whole golly gee lets be humble; whatever you get paid the big bucks at a premier basketball school wake up man and start exerting your will
the monte and niang year he was like well im not going to change anything; im not going to exert my will at all this is about the players blah blah
you are paid to manage this team; manage them

Almost all of that is dead wrong. Just haven’t been paying attention, or just completely jaded?

still mad about the virginia and purdue losses yes. so yes im completely jaded mainly based on those losses not necessarily the results from this year. in the monte/niang year it was feb and prohm was like oh well golly gee i should exert my will more and do things my way more blah blah golly gee. thanks for using your therapist skills to narrow down why im upset.

Some of your points weren't even bad ones, but who the heck bothers to be mad about tournament losses?
Virginia was an elite team all year playing at an elite level. Someone had to lose.
Purdue just encapsulated that group's whole career. Get down by 1000, get interested, come back, and they finally had a game where they came up short. Happens.

I'm just not seeing what there is to be mad about or jaded there.
And yes, I often wonder if Prohm coaches offense.

Wigginton will be a top 10 NBA Lottery Pick in 2 years if he and Monte work out during the summer and Monte helps him with his ball handling skills to become a better point guard.

It has been painful with out NWB and Solo, but it has allowed Wigginton to really take on a bigger role with the team. It is possible he may make a run at POY in the league next year. It has also allowed Talley to really blossom. Painful this year, but it should help us next year.

Ah geez Rick.

But in all honesty, judging Prohm for what he told media while coaching one of the statistically better teams to have ever played at ISU is like one us forum folk being your online therapists. We have no idea what was actually going on. For starters, it's a common tactic for coaches to direct blame towards themselves to deflect it from their players.

Just my opinion here, I don't think any amount of coaching gets ISU past those Virginia and Purdue teams. Purdue was a nightmare matchup in hindsight, no amount of small ball was going to save us that game. Absolute same thing with Virginia. They didn't let us run, Niang was shut down, and they had a couple competent seven footers. They were ready, we were ready, and they played up to their one seed.

If I remember correctly Prohm actually went small in the second half against Purdue and isolated Burton. It turned Purdue's size into a weakness. Changed the game completely allowing ISU to come storming back. We just ran out of gas at the end.

That and they had a miracle 3 roll in, and Monte was called for a turnover when he got fouled.

Part of it will be solved by having more threats around him, and other guys that can break down the defense, plus NWB to take the reins much of the time.

Get a little part time duty next year, and be ready to prove it as a junior. Then go pro if you can. He’s certainly one hell of a player.

Starters in Nov.
NWB, LW, Shayok, Young, Lard
THT breaks into the starting 5 at some point replacing Young or NWB.

I wonder if we will be better at outside shooting. It may be a wash but things can change from now till November. Lewis made big strides the last 4 games.

Silver-lining like this is key. Lost a couple Big 12 caliber starters and replaced in the lineup with guys who, while not quite as good (yet), got valuable playing time and experience. Talley, obviously got a chance to prove himself. Then Lewis, who was otherwise going to reverted to mop up minutes all year. And Jakolby, who we got to see a little bit, even if what we saw wasn't always inspiring. Hopefully his highlight reel isn't limited to the one game where he got hot against Tulsa.
