Ever Get Anything Interesting In a Package from Amazon, Ebay, etc?

Got a package thinking it was something I ordered. Nope, an XL cup with jock strap, dog shampoo, and fridge water filters for a fridge I don’t own. Had my name and address on it and everything. Called up Amazon and read them a code on the box and they said, looks like the right label but wrong contents. And they shipped out a replacement for what I ordered overnight.

Another time it happened with an Amazon Fresh order (groceries). Got my groceries and got an entirely wrong order. I told the guy as one bag was kinda open when he handed it to me and he said “the QR codes say it’s yours, nothing I can do, I just deliver”. I got the correct groceries an hour later plus got to keep their order which was like 6 healthy frozen pizzas, sweet potato fries, Texas toast, some chocolate milk and theraflu.

Just recently ordered an item from Amazon, they said it was delivered, after quite a few delays. Looked everywhere. Called them up and said I never got it and they were reluctant to refund it since it was kinda expensive ($300ish). They finally did and no less than an hour later I got a knock on my door, it was delivered to the wrong apartment. This was after I ordered a replacement from Target too.

About 20 years ago, ordered a computer monitor directly from Apple via their magazine (it was a thing back then). That was back when computer monitors, especially those for Apples, were very expensive and large -- just as deep as they are wide. Anyhow, monitor is delivered. A few days later another monitor is delivered (only paid for one). They let us keep both.

Our Hy-Vee online pick up order came with a whole bunch of cigarettes and boxes of Little Debbie’s snack cakes that we didn’t order. The wife immediately drove back to the store and returned them. I was sad because I would have liked the Little Debbie’s.

I once got a hammock hanger that I did not order. Not a hammock, just the straps to wrap around the supports. Amazon told me to keep it.

For example, you got sent something that you didn't order? A funny or interesting extra product, note, etc?

  • We ordered something on Amazon and randomly got a brand new woman's shirt in the box we didn't order or pay for. They let us keep it for free.
  • My friend was randomly sent a $400+ pro grade paper shredder once, they let him keep that for free, too.

I bought a $600 (retail price) ski jacket at an end of season sale and got a $1.50 motorcycle part. That's how I learned Backcountry.com was a conglomerate with many other large retailers across many sectors and they all shared warehouse/logistics networks.

Unfortunately it was the last one in the country in my size as they were the only store to carry that brand in the US at the time so they couldn't replace it. On the pro, they let me swap out that jacket for an Arcteryx at the same discount so I got a good deal out of it.

I also bought a sleeping pad and pillow from Klymit which was a new company at the time. They too messed up the logistics and sent me two identical orders but only charged me once. I contacted them to let them know of their mistake and told them if they sent me a label I'd return it. They thanked me for reaching out and told me to give it to someone I know who enjoys camping and help them spread their work.
