Does HCMC need a OC to call plays?

I said high level OCs? Please show where I said that or just admit you are the dumbass.

Let me know if you need help.

I think for the Coordinator positions is where the biggest continuity is important to Campbell. He may bring in new guys but will not be high level guys. I know some will say this is a mistake, but look at the high level ones that CPR brought in, they didn't help a whole lot.

Still looking for it.

I said high level guys, I didn’t say OC. High level are either coordinators, associate HC, main line coaches are usually you’re higher up guys. These positions aren’t like TE or if you run separate cb/safety spots.

Btw, sturdy, klenakis and burnham were all bigger names than herman and that’s just off the top of my head.

If you look at conference only statistics, Big XII teams averaged 30.4 Points per game. ISU averaged 29.6 in conference play.

We were ahead of Baylor (24.4), KU (19.7), K ST (21.3), and TCU (19.0). We were close to TX (31.8) and TX Tech (31.8).

Correct me if I'm wrong but all those other teams I mentioned have an OC. While W VA, OU, AND OSU have OCs their head coaches are heavily involved in the offense.

Not really seeing a huge need.

Position coaches aren’t high level guys, and the only subject you identified was OC.

Lol, Sturdy and Klenakis? Come on.

Campbell was just given a boatload of money to retain his defensive staff and upgrade his offensive staff. We need better playcalling, better OL coaching, and it's starting to look like Purdy has reached the infamous ISU QB plateau. On top of that, we are losing Monte and Butler - 2 immense pieces of our offense. The "grow your own staff internally" plan is not going to work unless these newly promoted GA's are budding geniuses.

This offense needs something. If not an OC, then it needs CMC to learn how to open it up more.

WSU abused us with throwing to speed guys in the flats all night. We never do that.

Also, where has Deshaunte Jones been? Or Akers? Or Milton? These are the kinds of athletes that you send in motion behind Purdy and hand them the ball once in a while on the edge. You want to open it up between the tackles for Monty.... then attack defenses on the edges with our speed guys above.

Our offense just seems so limited. No creativity at all. We hand off up the middle to Monty, or we throw bombs to Butler.... that's basically it.... that's our entire offense.

Does everyone remember in the Alamo Bowl when CMC put Re-al Mitchell in at WR, brought him in motion, faked the hand off to him and handed it to Monty on a counter? Made about 12 yards on that. Great play. But we rarely ever see it for some reason?

Yes, I loved the play but like someone mentioned earlier I feel like we go away from these things and never use it's deception fully. 1st time was to Monty, was the second to Monty again or kept by Purdy? But we never gave to Re-al or let him toss it. Same goes for when we would run the wild cat; it got predictable because Monty would keep it for a draw about every time.

So much stupid, but can we let Purdy develop? True freshman had a terrific year.

How soon some forget where ISU was at 4 years ago.

There are many legitimate and real benefits of having a dedicated OC beyond simply play calling, thus why 99% of teams have one. While I love CMC and what he has/is/will do for us, we need a true OC to continue to take the next step, no question in my mind.

It's hilarious how little some people know about what is actually going on. Just because someone doesn't publically have the OC title, doesn't mean someone isn't actually the OC. Paying attention and connecting the dots makes this entire discussion moot.

Did you not notice all of the offensive wrinkles that were added for the bowl game? The Wash State defensive backs were confused a lot pre-snap. The offense is limited by the underwhelming OLine play, mainly in pass protection. A lot of times, Purdy doesn't have a chance to go through his full progressions. When he gets to, he finds open receivers.

Man, you'd swear we were the team outgained by 200 in the Alamo Bowl

No he wasn't. He was given the money to keep whatever coaches he wants. Let him do his job. He's done pretty well already.

I still think that our Offensive Line limited what we could do. We could not count on plays that take any time to develop. Having said that, I also still want to see us hire an OC.

If Holgersen goes away, 5 of the 8 teams we defeated will have replaced their coaches. The status quo is unacceptable for them and they are making changes to be better next season. I wouldn't change anything on defense, but we were last in the Big12 in rushing and had the worst OL in the conference. You want to keep that going? Don't change a thing?
