Does HCMC need a OC to call plays?

ISU has only scored more than 23 points once in the last 7 games (going back to last season of course). Not terribly impressive on that side of the ball. Oline play doesn’t instill much confidence for that to change.

When the OL is better and Purdy is QB there will be numerous threads praising CMC for his creative play calling.

The new OC is Purdy? The ability to run and pass does put pressure on the defense with just one caveat - Oklahoma State game prepped for Noland.

There's no doubt that having a mobile QB helps tremendously, however, that does not mean we had good offensive game plans going into our first 4 games with the QB's we had.

You don't HAVE to have a mobile QB to get creative on offense. You can still call misdirection, runs to the edges, counters, slants into the areas vacated by blitzing LBs, screens to RBs when the defense constantly blitzes you, etc, etc, etc.

Purdy will obviously help us to open some things up, but it certainly does not make any excuses whatsoever for the ultra plain vanilla offensive schemes we've had up until this point.

Ben Bruns mocked all of us who are concerned about not having an OC in his half-time radio interview. He asked Campbell something like "Play-calling was not too bad for not having an OC, right?"

However their entire defense is recruited and coached to stop this exact offense nearly every week.

It appeared Oklahoma State was running a similar defense to ISU - 3 down linemen and 2 or 3 linebackers. The quarterback who can run might force teams to bring an extra man into the box which then opens up the passing game. The key will the ability to adjust on the fly to what the defense is doing unless the OL is blowing people off the line which allows you to keep running.

Okay coach.

I missed Big Ben's interview. Was this during the TOE or TCU game?
