DeAndre Kane visiting next week

What I hear comes from Marshall fans and those close to the program (2nd hand). I cant really get the players to post here and dont really want to ask family/friends (marshall fans) to post here to defend my internet honor. Nor do i feel like finding the quote from a coach that said addition by subtraction, when he left. Google it, not hard to find. Im just stating what ive heard instead of wetting myself that an average player who has asked to take visits to bigger programs has asked to visit ours.

And i said half the marshall fans want him gone, however it seems all the players wanted him gone.

proof.

He also completely demolished his locker room. His teamates said either he goes or we all go and the coach said bye bye to Kane instead of finding a bunch of walk ons. I get the whole we helped royce/royce helped us thing but this guy is pretty much a grenade.

Also bold

I went to the Marshall version of CF, and started a thread asking about Kane, here it is:Deandre Kane seems that there are mixed feelings on Kane. Pretty much everyone agrees that he under-performed in his career. But several note how he got better at controlling his emotions, and how he didn't complain about being forced to play out of position his senior year.

...Sounds like Mike Taylor II

Hoiberg has done a pretty good job of bringing in transfers who may have had big question marks attached to them, but fit in pretty well. And he doesn't seem to try to put them in a straightjacket to do so. He seems to let them be themselves and let the team take care of some of the interpersonal stuff. It seems like they had to do some of that this year. I love the idea of Hoiberg making it work with transfers. It continues to show what a tremendous coach he is. Guys who don't work out so well elsewhere find a place here. It doesn't work every time, but overall, he has a pretty good track record so far. I welcome anyone like this that Hoiberg gives an offer to.

Marshall seems like it has a nice, smart fanbase (huge inference from the interwebz i know.) Surprised how much they know of Hoiberg...Sometimes I forget how big of a rock star our coach is (even outside the state of Iowa.)

Yep, their biggest gripe seemed to be that he griped about no calls. Ejim does the same thing, and I wouldn't trade him for the world. I would welcome Kane aboard with open arms.

Am I the only person who wants some defensive experience on the perimeter? Sheesh. Babb, gone. Tyrus, gone. Clyburn, gone. Lucious, gone. Add Hogue, and two freshmen in Matty Ice and Man Man and you have lack of experience. Kane would even a lot of things out. And who cares if he can't shoot well from three? He averaged 7 assists. I'm sure he could find someone to pass to with the ample options on next years roster.

Exactly. You can look at anyone's stats and see flaws in them but if Fred thinks we need another guy and offers him after he visits I'm all for it. We will have a ton of talent next year but will be lacking experience on the perimeter.

I am liking this post, both for content, and for pictures in your avatar and signature.

Oh yes, lets all give our $.02 on who we don't think deserves the scholly they currently have. It's even more fun when it's a player we haven't even seen play yet!

Plus, you cant pull a scholly until after at least a year.

All these transfers make me wonder about something. When exactly do the scholarship limits kick in?

I mean, when Nader was visiting and offered the financial assistance from ISU, technically, KO was still on scholarship, on the roster, and it had not been announced he was leaving. Plus, all the seniors were still on scholarship, LOI's had been signed by all the incoming freshmen and Jucos (as far as we know) so where was the scholarship that ISU had to offer?

Now, here we go again. It would appear ISU does not have a scholarship to offer, yet they are taking a visit from another transfer.

I'm not implying ISU is doing anything wrong......I'm just curious as to when the scholarship limits kick in and are applied? It appears things are pretty fluid and flexible.

I believe they just cannot have the limit enrolled and using schollies You can over offer just not over give. Coaches have until june 15th to notify current players if there current scholly will not be renewed. That not apply to sighned incoming players.

Just watched the Marshall Tulsa CUSA tourney game. Granted it is only one game but Kane looked athletic and can get to the rim pretty much at will. He was clutch at the end of the second to push it to a third OT and to ice the game at the end. Reminded me a lot of Jake Anderson with his effort. His shot leaves a little to be desired but that maybe improved under Fred's coaching. I have read the personality concerns but if the staff is satisfied that he has matured I think he could play a significant role for the Cyclones next year. Should be interesting to see if he commits.
