DeAndre Kane visiting next week

Really? There's an example out there where a player says they don't want someone? That's hard to believe. If my coach asked my what I thought about a recruit, I'd have a hard time giving a thumbs-down, even if I thought that.

I know when I was playing football we hosted a running back from Iowa City (can't remember his name, but was pretty highly recruited) and after his visit the players hosting him told Coach Mac we didn't want him on the team so we quit recruiting him and I believe he ended up at Arizona State. He was a total DB on his visit.

To me the players input has to be doubly important on transfers. Especially in a situation like this where that transfer would likely be playing immediately. He's gotta mesh with existing players.

I think it would be more of a lack of hearing anything from the players that would be a signal the current players aren't in favor. I know when Nader and the kid from Maine visited, I saw multiple tweets from players welcoming him and asking Cyclone Nation to show them some love.

IIRC, that is exactly what happened with Kris Humphrey going to Kansas. The Kansas players said he was a ******, so they stopped recruiting him.

It is not a good time to visit because players went home and will be returning in June just before summer session.

His brother Kahlil took a punt off his foot to help us win a game in Ames.

Royce had an "incident" which could have just been a mistake. His former coach didnt want him to leave (but tubby had no choice). He seemed to be a great teamate and one of the leaders of the team.

Kane has a long history of stuff. While not being in legal trouble, his coach asked him to leave. His teamates hated him and allegedly said either he goes or we all go. He was a "cancer" in the lockeroom. The majority of fans are glad he's long gone.

Big difference between Royce and Kane.

I've heard that coaches are not able to work out potential transfers in the offseason, so that responsibility largely falls on managers and players. I have heard that CFH had Austin McBeth put Justin Edwards from Maine through some of their drills and he looked awful. This could be where player feedback comes in, and that since the coach can't be in attendance they rely heavily on what the team reports back to them.

Not sure if this is true or not, but I've heard it before.
