Good, because Blythe isn't playing like a senior either. Few guys are playing up to their potential.
I seem to recall a guy in Manhatten upsetting the existing players and many fans last year and even this off-season. All he did was exceed expectations in his first year and nearly defeat a very good team on the road in Week 1.
It ain't always going to be roses and daisies, folks. Sometimes you gotta go backwards in order to move forward. And sometimes along the way, people get upset.
None of that will matter though, as long as the wins come eventually.
I like my way of describing it moreI don't think it's fair to say he hasn't earned their respect but I think there's obviously different styles of play that are being worked out. Mac was a fairly mellow coach and Chizik is very emotional and agressive and it's taking everybody time to adjust. I think that's to be expected when such a different style of coaching comes in.
If individuals start putting themselves before the team, it's going to be a problem. You don't want the inmates running the asylum. QUOTE]
I think this is EXACTELY what happened under Mac, and was a big reason his program crumbled. Meyer and Blythe were the golden children for 4 years. Now they are being told to produce or sit. Human nature being what it is you can see how this would affect their level or performance...
You have never been to a practice that Mac was part of if you think he was "fairly mellow"
Way off mark with that comment.
OK, fairly mellow might not have been the right term in that context. I meant fairly mellow in comparison to Chizik with all things considered. The difference in how they do things is so big that it's hard to get the point across. Mac was a great coach and was incredibly intense, however, that didn't always follow through to discipline for not doing what needed to be done. When I say mellow, I mean he didn't follow his hard talk with what I felt were hard actions. That still doesn't sound right but I give up
Mac was a father figure, I've heard that from several players. Chizik is a hard-nosed guy that knows what needs done and it takes a different form than Mac's intensity.
