Deace On Jon Miller Show Now

Not too worried about any tension between coaches vs. players. This happens all the time especially with a new staff. The only thing that can ultimately cure it is wins. Whether that is a win vs. Iowa with the 4 and 5 year starters playing or a win to end the year vs. Kansas with the Freshmen and Sophomores starting.

Maybe JUST maybe, the rivalry game can give these unbelievers in the Chizik program some belief. Nothing like a bitter rival reviving your season especially ones that were laughing on the sidelines at you in a completely different game.

Now THAT could explain what we have seen so far. It is like only a few of them are playing inspired. Maybe all these guys came to play for Mac and not for ISU.

Then people should criticize the hell out of McCarney like everyone on here was so quick to do during basketball. Hell everybody was up in arms about Morgan being a "father figure."

I know Brian, double standards.:no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no:

I advocate an immediate 2 day ban on anyone using more than one Smilie in a post.

I'm confused. We supposedly have players who have bad attitudes and who refuse to play as hard as they can and they still have the priviledge of starting? How does this fit in with Chizik being a hard-nosed no-nonsense do-it-my-way-or-the-highway kind of guy?

Has anyone heard about this dissension first hand from players on the team now? I'd hate to believe the new coaching staff is tolerating, much less rewarding, bad attitudes and bad performance. In fact, I don't believe it.

I'm guessing Gene is the complete opposite of Mac. Mac was probably a little more likeable, but Chizik is a winner.

I say good ridence to Mac's recruits, and welcome Chizik's "I'm not looking for someone to wipe my ***" recruits!!

Who provides all of this inside information to Mr Deace? Is he that close to the program?

As would life itself. :confused::wideeyed::eek:
I propose that the message boards should be like the stock market during a sharp downturn. If the attitude goes downward too quickly, it should shut down for a cooling off period after a particularly bad loss. Ok, nevermind, I couldn't wait that long, and this is not the season to start that.

This is what makes CF so great. Deace went down the road, but it took CF posts to connect the dots and make sense. If this player/coach posturing is indeed what is occurring, then I feel a bit more comfortable in this early process. The underclassmen and team's future will be much better off if Chizik shows that the "we" is more important than the "I" and no players will be coddled regardless of talent level.

This might be why the passing game has been so suspect. Blythe and Meyer are buddies, so if Todd was called out there is likely some behind the scenes animosity festering. It would be especially disconcerting if they were team leaders, but they're really not outside of one being QB. We haven't had one since Hobbs. It will be interesting to see who steps up later this year or next. And maybe another reason the Arnoud/Bates era begins sooner rather than later.

I thought Ace was a leader.

His options are somewhat limited in who can take over - we don't have a deep talent pool. However I'm sure he will draw the line at some point if those talented players are still refusing to cooperate, and that line is likely fast approaching :confused:

Perhaps we should be taking that 3 week comment a little more literally than a lot of us had thought when it came up....:eek:

WTF are some of you dragging Blythe into this for? Two things:
#1. I think Blythe has caught all but one pass maybe two thrown to him this year. When he is given the opportunity to produce he has delivered.
#2. He didn't block well downfield in week 1. Well, apparently he did well enough this week for Coach Chizik to actually mention it on tonight's call in show as an improvement.

So, what in the H-E- double hockey sticks leads anyone to believe the Blythe is not giving 100% or is being lazy or whatever other BS you may be spouting?

Ridiculous. I just love people that start throwing others under the bus as soon as adversity hits. Yea, that's sarcasm. Show some friggin' character people.

Remember all the Airplane! movies from the '70s? The ones where the people would just randomly run around screaming when something bad happened, even if it was inappropriate and made things worse?

The ones posting this stuff, right now, are those people.

First of all, I love how nothing more than rumor mill speculation can get a long thread going! However, if any of this speculation is true, it is clearly Chizik using the Marine method of breaking them down and then building them up. A few other observations:

-how comical...the players wanting to embrace the old way...that 4-8 debacle of a year ago should have disabused them of this notion.

-Chizik needs to earn their respect?!? Come now, Chizik has coached a hell of a lot more NFL players than our previous coach did. Frankly, these players need to earn his respect.

-anyone not "buying in" to the new regime cannot be considered a team leader. They are nothing more than selfish "me-first" players if that is happening.

-memo to all of you...Meyer and Blythe will not be playing NFL football next year.

-I want a coach that is a leader...not a daddy.

Lastly, I beg of you, please do not put the word "great" in front of Dan McCarney's name when you are discussing his abilities as a coach. He did not prove to be great in any respect.
