Dan Winters leaving WHO

How many has this been in the last couple of years? It's nuts.
Good amount. I think once the first few did it and the others saw that they too can have normal hours/life then others jumped on ship and said to hell with it I'm going to do it to.

Quite a few become spokespeople for media relations at bigger companies. That fits totally into their skillset. along with better hours.

I've noticed that as WHO has leaned increasingly to the right, the balanced and/or left-leaning anchors & reporters are leaving. IIRC, wasn't WHO part of that company (Sinclair?) that wanted all of its station anchors to read some sort of blanket propaganda statement on air a couple of years ago?

I must have blinders on but I've never noticed any of them having any political leanings. Maybe Cynthia Folder but that's just because she dated the Jethros owner, who is a known republican.

You have got to be kidding me.

Oof. Always seemed pretty professional.

It's all about work/life balance. Those anchor jobs are crazy demanding. My son plays baseball against Dave Price's boy and I've seen Dave shooting a quick segment outside of his car for the 5:00 news and then going to the game. Looking back at Andy, that dude was working crazy hours. He would basically be going to bed right after dinner. There has to be a better way to balance it out.

Yep, working a lot when other people don't want to.
I kind of equate it to being a Chef.

We’ve seen this in the Cedar Rapids market for years. Lots of TV anchors/reporters leaving television to do communications stuff at places like Mercy Hospital in Iowa City or Alliant Energy. Alliant literally has a team of former KCRG/KGAN on-air people.
