What the hell is happening here people? If any one of you had an opportunity to reach a life long dream in your career, more power to you. I don't think this is Fred being greedy, nor do I think this has anything do do with him not loving ISU. Listen to yourself before you type something derogatory about a guy that has worked his tail off as a student, player, and coach at ISU. He's been one of the best representatives for our University, EVER. He's not just the mayor of Ames, he's now very much loved nationally. Why? Because he's a great f'ing guy, period! Can any of you say that you have done as much for ISU as Fred? Hell, most of us aren't half the person Fred is. He is a remarkable individual and I think that's pretty much indisputable.

Be happy for what we've had and stop whining. He has his own life to live and his decisions should be for him and his family, not you. To hear him say that he's had derogatory messages directed at him? How crappy of those people. They should be ashamed. That kind of criticism just proves my statement above. Most of us aren't half the person he is.

While improbable, if for some reason, Fred decides ISU is where he wants to be for life. Great, we're all happy. If not, that's ok too. If/when Fred goes to Chicago, wish him well and hope he continues to be the great representative of ISU he's always been.

Can we be sad that we are losing the chance at seeing what may have been had Fred been a life long coach at ISU? Absolutely, we all are and that's ok. But to be mad at him or even worse, to throw insults at him. It's just disgusting to me.

Opinion and feelings police strike again.

Yes. Embarrassing.

You people telling people how to feel one way or the other are WAY more unbearable than the people who are reasonably a little unhappy with the way things ended.

You can appreciate what Fred did and be happy for his success and still not be ecstatic about how he did it.

And Fred's a big boy, he understands. That's why he apologized at the airport today. He probably feels like **** about it.

But he made his choice knowing it would suck for ISU fans and it'd probably make him feel like ****. It is what it is. He had to weigh that against his dream.

But something being someones dream doesn't invalidate others' opinions and feelings when it legitimately affects something they care about.

Yup. Whats unbearable is the group of people that think they can tell people how they should feel about it.

I dont think most people blame him for taking a job that's doubling his pay and letting him coach at the highest level.

I do think many people have highlighted in more lengthy posts than im going to make right now why there are perfectly acceptable reasons to be unhappy with fred, both in how this process happened and in how he himself built up the image that made many fans feel this way about him to begin with.

While I agree, its all part of the grieving, and the fact that people are grieving thus hard says a lot about what Fred meant to ISU. Fred's silence has lead to the biggest game of jump to conclusions that I have ever seen. He owes this fan base a going away press conference, and hopefully after that, people come to terms and move on.

I agree. Stop telling people how to feel.

Those saying it's about "feelings" just don't get it. I'm not worried about Fred's "feelings." I'm just talking about being decent to someone who has done a hell of a lot more for ISU than anyone who is criticizing him for being disloyal.

There is no GOOD way to leave ISU for Fred. Can you be upset, yes. But insulting, no. If you don't understand the difference, that's a bigger issue.

One sentence that says "don't insult Fred directly" would have said enough, but the rest is just fans processing this on a Message board. I have no problem with people venting on a message board as long as they are not directed at Fred directly.

Step back, kick back and r-e-l-a-x. :jimlad:

And who exactly should people vent directly at for Fred's leaving?

Hoiberg is following his dream. He apologized to the fans during the interview at The Ames airport. Fred should not apologize. He didn't do or say anything that would warrant an apology. He did more then anyone expected as a first time head coach and he has a new opportunity that can be huge for his family and future.

ISU isn't a destination, for players or coaches. Fred didn't get the highly sought after Top 10 recruits but he did get transfers and put together winning teams, just like what will happen in the NBA. He's a NBA owners dream. NBA players present huge problems for coaches. Fred has shown he knows what to do, what to say and how to coach.

I'm not happy but I'm putting my faith in Jamie. Jamie knows what is at stake. Men's basketball needs a high caliber coach to continue the winning streak. We need to be a basketball destination for players and coaches. ISU can attract the top notch coach now. Jamie can talk a big, competitive salary to the targets, or target.

The Bulls reportedly had only one candidate for the opening, Fred. Maybe Jamie has only one candidate for his vacancy, Jeff. I hope so.

Summary of CF since Thibs was fired.

I think it's the 'directly at' part...like..you can vent at Fred, but please keep it just "in his general direction."

So in that clip, the first line...okay...the rest...not so much.
