What the hell is happening here people? If any one of you had an opportunity to reach a life long dream in your career, more power to you. I don't think this is Fred being greedy, nor do I think this has anything do do with him not loving ISU. Listen to yourself before you type something derogatory about a guy that has worked his tail off as a student, player, and coach at ISU. He's been one of the best representatives for our University, EVER. He's not just the mayor of Ames, he's now very much loved nationally. Why? Because he's a great f'ing guy, period! Can any of you say that you have done as much for ISU as Fred? Hell, most of us aren't half the person Fred is. He is a remarkable individual and I think that's pretty much indisputable.
Be happy for what we've had and stop whining. He has his own life to live and his decisions should be for him and his family, not you. To hear him say that he's had derogatory messages directed at him? How crappy of those people. They should be ashamed. That kind of criticism just proves my statement above. Most of us aren't half the person he is.
While improbable, if for some reason, Fred decides ISU is where he wants to be for life. Great, we're all happy. If not, that's ok too. If/when Fred goes to Chicago, wish him well and hope he continues to be the great representative of ISU he's always been.
Can we be sad that we are losing the chance at seeing what may have been had Fred been a life long coach at ISU? Absolutely, we all are and that's ok. But to be mad at him or even worse, to throw insults at him. It's just disgusting to me.
