Countdown untill the beatdown!!!

I still think we will blow out Iowa. Just don't see it being close at all. Everyone rips on our depth, but Iowa's is much worse. Also, I wouldn't pick a single starter of theirs over ours.

I don't envision any way that Iowa wins...we just aren't very good. I'll be shocked if we are a tourney team this year.

Just a warning, we do not handle humility from Iowa fans very well. Most fans that post on other teams forums just are not very reasonable (exception for Cyclone fans of course).

Don't go too easy on him, isn't this the guy that would just respond "12-0" in every football thread?

I might be more willing to give Iowa a chance if they had any attitude at all. But where is their edge going to come from? They have to play with a huge chip on their shoulder if they're going to win at Hilton. Uthoff and Jok are the only guys capable of playing at our level, and that's giving Jok some credit. I hated Aaron White, but he at least showed some cockiness. You need those guys in these games.

But they play 10 guys!!!! That's the definition of depth!

I'll be the Tenth Man.

This is how Iowa will beat ISU.

Their zone though not great can be effective slowing down our penetration. Which we have seen can end up with us turning the ball over or settling for 3 point shots. If we don't hit on an average amount of 3's that will lead to their transition game which is good and our transition defense hasn't been really tested and in the past has been sub par.

Offensively they will move the ball and try to dribble and drive with kick outs when we collapse. Their wings aren't great but are capable of hitting good looks. Our ability to stop penetration is suspect. Against VT they were able to drive at will for a long stretch. Last night showed that we are susceptible to the kick out as we collapsed the perimeter when the Bulls were able to get by their man.

Foul trouble. Last night showed we are vulnerable when one of our bigs is in foul trouble. It forced us into a 4 guard lineup for a stretch that wasn't very effective. When Mckay sits our ability to defend points in the paint is below average.

TL;DR. Zone can cause us problems if we don't hit threes or shoot too early in the possession. Defense is vulnerable to dribble drives and our bigs can't get in foul trouble.

Put Georges at the high post, problem solved. Shoot, lob, kick for 3, Iowa's closeouts are awful.

Bingo. Either George will have 20+ from floaters or 5+ assists on alley-oops to McKay. You beat a zone by making the extra passes and this team is excellent at moving the ball.

You must not have taken a gander at your conference yet this year....you'll have to be embarrassingly bad to not finish ok in that trash heap.

Off the top of my head I don't remember Iowa playing any zone last year and if they did it wasn't for long stretches.

I doubt they would change that approach.

Watching us at times this year, we seem to be moving the ball in transition as fast as I have ever seen. I don't see how Dingleberry is going to be able to keep up. Also, McKay is going to beat him to the hoop a lot and bad things happen when you don't keep McKay in front of you. No matter how Iowa defends us, I see Niang and McKay eating them up.

Might be true. But don't be surprised if Uthoff gets drafted ahead of Georges. Fred offered several of the Iowa players. He didn't get them, and then loaded up on Jucos and transfers.

Uthoff, Moss and Gesell are the three players Fred offered that I can think of and obviously Uthoff was the only true miss

If Uthoff doesn't stop looking like he's scared ******** every time there's five minutes or less left in the game clock, I may revisit my prediction that he will get drafted. I've never seen someone so good be so afraid to be the go-to guy.

Utoff is too soft for the NBA. Not saying he won't get drafted, but he won't be successful.
