Countdown untill the beatdown!!!

Dear Lord that was five years ago and I was just trying to be ultra positive. Don't be afraid that a messageboard thread will affect the outcome of the game.

Potential foul trouble will probably make me nervous before every big game.

Has it really been that long since Texas had no chance? Time flies...

I think it was March 2012 if I remember right

Iowa is an experienced team that has looked solid all-around so far. Should be a good challenge. I don't think this will be over early like last year's game.

I'll take a win period. It will be a tough game.

Exactly. I want my Clones to win, but I never set myself up for a possible let down and fall like the OP. No "beat down" is ever assured in this game.

I am way more nervous for the UNI game. I honestly feel like that is going to be a loss.

Agree. It takes either a really talented team that plays like we do or a massive contrast in style to make me nervous. Sure anything can happen any day but I like the matchup with a team like Iowa that isn't good enough or disciplined enough to slow the pace down to a crawl over a matchup with UNI that has that slow style of pace trademarked.

Apparently I'm going to the game now. Can't decide if I'd rather have it be a great game like two years ago, or a complete *** kicking like last year.

We are better than Iowa at every position. They're poorly coached and willing to try andbrun with us...guys like Jok have no problem hoisting quick shots and deep threes that help push tempo. Barring epic foul trouble, poor shooting,or injury I am not too worried.

Keep in mind only home losses in last 3+ years are against KU and Baylor.

I'm waiting for one of those position by position comparisons. The fact is there is no comparison this year.

We were better than UAB at every position last year too. Upsets happen. I am fine with a one point OT win in a rivalry game.

Iowa is a legit team and so is Iowa State. I have no respect for Woodbury, but the rest of the team is fine. Hopefully ISU gives it their all and beats the stuffing out of them.

couple thoughts ...

a rivalry game is never a guaranteed win

that being said though, Iowa has lost to two unranked teams in ND and Dayton on a neutral court. Not to mention that the Hilton factor is enough to make it a game for a top 10 team playing an unranked Cyclone team.

Prohm might not know this rivalry very well yet but you better believe Niang, Naz, Monte, Nadar, Thomas and even McKay all will have zero problem being pumped for this game. And isn't ESPN gonna be there?

on the side ... I am sick of hearing about Iowa football and us taking it to them in bball is just what the doctor ordered

Agree, except that Iowa lost to Dayton and Notre Dame in some Thanksgiving tournament in Florida.

Iowa's losses were in Orlando, not at home

I'd happily take a win. Weird stuff happens in rivalry games, and to assume a beatdown is Hok fan-level irrational confidence.

Just win, move on, and hope Iowa's crap season doesn't drag down the RPI.

noted and corrected ... was just going off their schedule on ESPN and didn't see that it was a neutral location
