The number one proponent and the guy that spoke to congress when they brought up the bill last year, it was his number 1 reason. This was the entire premise for the bill last year.I don't see many people scaremongering about afternoons the way you talk about.
The bigger reason people want DST year round is to have usable time in the evenings in the winter. Most people are going to school\work in the dark in Dec-Feb regardless.
Maybe look up sunrise and sunset for DM for the winter and see just how much extra time you would have in the winter if you stuck with one. People have no grasp that its basically dark at 5PM regardless in the winter. But the mornings can be much darker for much longer.
