Clock "Spring Forward" Tonight

Why do you care? I’m 43 and I don’t know any different, it really shouldn’t bother anyone. Looks like an excuse to cry in my opinion.
Why do this twice a year? It throws everyone's body clock off. It makes everyone change their clocks twice a year. If your employer wants to change your work hours seasonally that's a private decision.

It reminds me of the fable about the man whose rope was too short so he cut some off of one end to add to the other end to make it longer. We're not changing any amount of sunshine or darkness. Only just changing the man-made designation to fool ourselves.

So all you are saying is that you can’t adapt to change. Again it’s been this way my entire life and it might cause sleep issues for a night or two but again having raised two kids, that’s really not a big deal. So let’s make an issue about it online to strangers because that solves it

You'd rather have 4am sunrises in the summer and 730pm sunsets? No thanks.

I will never understand why changing clocks twice a year is hard. Sleep in, go to bed slightly earlier tonight, or take a nap tomorrow.
Exactly. How many people that complain constantly about it stay up several hours late on the weekends, or sleep in a couple extra hours on the weekends too.

That is a change to someones sleep pattern every week, and most of the time more than an Hour. Yet that is just fine, no extra heart attacks from that huh.

If having a perfect never changing sleep patter was so important those people would go to bed the exact same time no matter what every day, and wake up the exact same time too. Seriously, people go to bed at different times just because there is a tv show they want to watch, but having to change the clocks a 2 times a year a whole hour is the worst thing ever.

I always for some reason get confused by the maths but if it just stayed like this the whole time, does that mean it's still light out by 5-5:30 in December instead of 4-4:30?

Then what time is sunrise at that time?
about 8:55 am.

My thought too. So it’s dark when you drive to work, no big deal but there’s more daylight even you get off and weather pending can still go on an early evening walk.
The problem is the people that complain about the clock change say it is more dangerous driving home in the dark and more accidents happen. But then want to make sure everyone goes to work AND SCHOOL in the dark.

Sure some of the early bus riders get on the bus before daybreak for part of the winter. But this would make sure EVERYONE does and the entire bus ride, for MOST of the winter.

People forget our kids safety is the most important thing, and the point is you make sure they have as much light as possible both coming and going to school. A kids sleep adjusts really fast, faster than you, and you take about 2 days.

This happens already though.

The scaremongering around dangerous mornings for schools was false when put forward as a reason not to do year-round DST 50 years ago, and remains false now

It is changing the clock to adjust to the sunrise and sunset. The daylight hours are just the same. Short as hell in the winter. But we adjust the clocks to better fit the daylight, understanding the sunrise and sunsets change throughout the year.

People dont want 9am sunrises in the winter or 430 am sunrises in the summer. They also dont want earlier dark in the summer.. just to gain an hour of daylight in the afternoon in the winter. In January is a sunset at 530 that much different than 430? 90% of people will still get home from work after sunset either way. But making it not get light until 9am will guarantee most go to work and school in the dark.

We adjust the clocks to make the best use of the daylight available. That is the point.

Just like the scaremongering today that its more dangerous in the afternoons to drive home, and the scaremongering that it causes more heart attacks for 1 day of the year. People use the same tactics to scare people to try to change their minds both ways.

Complaining about an hour change is stupid. Dont tell me you dont ever change your sleep patterns by at least an hour, like on weekends/days off. You do it probably weekly, but the 2 times a year it happens otherwise is the worst thing in the world.

Please, get a grip.

I don't see many people scaremongering about afternoons the way you talk about.

The bigger reason people want DST year round is to have usable time in the evenings in the winter. Most people are going to school\work in the dark in Dec-Feb regardless.
