CFTV: Hoiberg post-UAB video

Just watched CFH's interview again...I think its almost tougher to watch today than it was yesterday. And that's after having time to come down from whatever emotion that was after the game (a sick combination of mad, sad, confused, denial, frustration, etc., etc.).

That's the best description of how I felt after that game that I've seen. All of those things lumped into one.

It sucks. Sucks more than a lot of things. Just remember it could always be worse, at least we have next year to look forward to.

People keep talking about the teams focus. You can't gameplan for constantly missing shots, it just happens sometimes. Sucks when everyone not named Matt Thomas are cold as ice.
This x1000! Naz had so many wide-open shots! And Niang missed MANY of those runners he normally hits at a high %age! If we make only one more of those wide open shots, we beat a bad UAB team, all while playing our worst game of the year. If we played like that in any one of our Big XII tourney games, we would have been beaten by 15 or more points. The key for next year is to get used to being the hunted - the one with the target on our back. We no longer can rely on playing as an underdog. We have to be ready each game - from the outset - to receive everyone's best shot.

Wonder where our team will get picked preseason in the Big12 next year. I hope 4th or 5th again. Maybe we'll play with that chip again. Afterall, KU, OU, WV, and BU will be loaded too with lots of returning players.

I hope our players aren't waiting to see where they are picked to play with a chip on their shoulders.

At some point they will have to learn to play with a target on their chests.

Regardless of who we're playing, they need to play with a tougher attitude next year so they can fight through when shots aren't falling, or so when they play a team they are clearly better than, they will want to step on their throats rather than come out flat.

We were up 10 early on, lost our intensity on the boards. Then let UAB back into it. That's how March upsets happen.

Hopefully they can learn from this one for next year's tournament.

We need to get Kentucky style focus for 2015-2016. It doesn't matter who we play, on what night, and what is at stake ~ We play balls out for 40 minutes to get the W. Doesn't matter what else is going on.

I hate John Calipari but his halftime interview at the Kentucky game last night stuck with me. He doesn't care about bench games, or playing time or egos. He starts the 5 best guys on his team to win, period. The fact that they are 35-0 backs up that statement.

With a Kentucky type attitude we would win about 15 games a year. Don't fool yourself. It's not the attitude that's the secret behind Calipari teams' success.

We shot a higher percentage than uab did.

That doesn't mean much in itself.

Everyone needs to make buckets to win, obviously. But we rely on it more than other top teams IMO. Our biggest talent is making shots (not just 3Ps, that is a myth). Not only via efficiency (shot selection and transition), but through hitting tough ones. Georges makes so many tough shots we begin to overlook how amazing he is. One of the biggest improvements we can make is increasing our ability to win with poor shooting (defense, rebounding, FTs, physically able to get easy looks, etc). Following recruiting imo we have been trying to. On that note I am somewhat surprised how little Edozie played.

Depending on who comes back for OU, 2nd or 3rd.
