Caitlin Clark

They are still debating whether or not she is the biggest college basketball star in the country (male or female) on Murph and Andy right now.

If they are correct, she needs to turn pro after this year because there is only one way to go when you are at the top.

I don't think it's quite as crazy of a question as it may sound. There's not a ton of star power in CBB this year. There aren't any Ja Morant or Zions that are must watch TV. You look at the Player of the Year race it it's guys like Johnny Davis, Kofie Cockburn, Drew Timme, Tshiebwe, Abaji. Not exactly household names. Even the top-tier draft guys like Banchero, Jabari Smith, Ivey, etc. aren't exactly big names either.

In terms of an ability to generate buzz she may just be the best between both sports.

You think anyone outside the state of Iowa knows Caitlin Clark?

It's ok to admit that Iowa has a generational talent on their team. Not sure why ISU fans are so butthurt about it when it unfortunately is a sport that the average sports fan doesn't care about.

My point exactly when asking if people across the nation know who Caitlin Clark is

Even if she is the most exciting player, that doesn't mean she is the biggest star. Leave the state of Iowa, and more people know about Ochai Agbaji than Caitlin Clark. Hell, more people probably know about Izaiah Brockington than her.

She is no doubt a phenomenal player. The system works for her. Would Paige Bueckers be a bigger star now had she not injured? Probably but Geno's system doesn't give a carte blanche to players - there are still consequences. (IIRC Geno commenting on WNBA final where Maya Moore made a 3-pointer and Geno said that she actually took a bad shot selection).
Would I like to have her on our team? Probably yes, but it depends on other factors too. Would she be content being a team player instead of being a one person show? I sometimes cringed that Ashley kept on forcing to drive for layups instead of passing to other players....

Pretty crazy Iowa will have National POY in mens and womens basketball in back to back years.

They're doing her a disservice by comparing her to the men's players. Different sport, different level. It's a hell of an accomplishment to be one of the biggest stars in Women's bball, leave it at that.

But talking about sports for hours on the radio seems to necessitate making dumb comparisons to get people worked up.

Murph and Andy doubling down and now going as far as saying she is the biggest star in college mens or women's basketball. Holy confirmation bias Batman.
That's a pretty big boast considering another player who puts up big numbers every game just dropped an NCAA record 61 points a couple of weeks ago.
