Bulaga (sp?) out???

Who knows if this is true or not....it seems like the week leading up to this game, there is always a hawkeye that is supposedly injured. However, I would sure hope no one would make up a rumor that a kid has heart problems. I really hope that this is not true, for Bryan's sake.

You would think that if Bryan had a heart problem that the team doctors would have picked up on it by now. I'm sure these kids go through all sorts of tests before they get cleared to play...surely something like that wouldn't go undetected.

Then again, I'm just throwing stuff out there, I'm as curious as everyone else.

That's a good point. But aren't there some viruses that can affect the heart?

I realize this is speculation, but if it's heart-related, that's all I can think of.

Pray that this isn't as serious as it sounds. The kid has a great future ahead in the NFL. Don't get so caught up in the rivalry, that you can't think like a compassionate human being. Not that any of you aren't.

I have no idea. I keep thinking back to Mark DeRosa having to have heart surgery during Spring Training in 2008. He had some sort of heart murmer that he'd lived with all his life, and finally decided that right then was a good time to get it taken care of, because he had felt it "flutter" while he in a game.

Not necessarly. My freshman year at UNI, my roommate died of heart failure the third night we were there. He was a very good athlete. Going to play for the baseball team. Doctors said they was no way to tell it was going to fail, without testing and looking for it specifically.

This could be ANYTHING. Murmur, blood clot, low T-count, etc etc. Or it could be nothing. I hope the kid is okay. Never want to see anybody get hurt.

I'm sure guys get a physical... but a lot of heart conditions just can't be picked up that way. It is possible.

I thought Baluga was a type of whale...[/QUOTE

When this thread first started I had to google the name. Without knowing how to spell it I came up with the whale as well. As hard as it is for some Hawk fans to contemplate, most people don't know who even your best players are.

I have had pre-participation physicals at three different colleges, they aren't very intensive at all... He looked really sluggish in his play last week, I wonder if that was part of it... I wish him all the best though, this is a really tough break for the kid if true...

Damn, someone supposedly "in the know" at HR is saying that Bulaga has a heart problem that's keeping him out of the game Sat.

Either this is an elaborate hoax or a bad situation that you hope the kid works through to preserve his health.

If it's a hoax, it's in pretty bad taste to spread a serious rumor like that.

Reading through that thread, there's also a Cyclone fan who comes just short of saying that Iowa players roid up.

This post is for the media (which I know read this board)
Predicting ISU blowing Iowa out is a .05% representation of the rest of the fan base.
(all though it would be nice)

And I really hope the kid is alright.

I also hope that Bulaga is ok.

I don't like the Hawkeyes just as much as anyone, but these are all young human beings. I never would be happy about anyone being injured or hurt in any way. It just sucks... no matter who they play for.

Yes, this is ISU vs. Iowa, but it's still just a silly game. Health is not a silly game however. I hope he's ok.

He is considered one of the top linemen in the country. He is on the Outland list of players to watch. He isn't some no-name player.

Can't really chalk this one up to Squawk arrogance. The kid has massive talent. I'm not the biggest CFB fan in the world, but I know that name.
