Bubu Appealing

I remember Scotty hitting a three early in the 2nd half vs Kentucky in 2012---to TIE THE GAMEFor some reason Fred immediately subbed him out for Bubu, and Kentucky completely destroyed us the second Bubu went in--- like a 17-0 runSame thing with the game prior. luckily we were leading Uconn by so many points we were able to win anyway I luv Fred, but he ain't perfect
me, KCClone, etc. aren't arguing how good of a player Bubu is. We are arguing that a possible successful appeal shouldn't matter about how good of a player he is, it should be if he has a case to get back on the team. I think Hoiberg let Bubu know he'd welcome Bubu back on the team if he get reinstated or Bubu simply wouldn't waste the time doing it. He's a student currently so this is about his basketball status I believe.

if you are believing hook line and sinker coach speak during the off season, i'm a Prince from Nigeria that needs to get my money into the United STates, but need a little help doing so.

Uh, playing someone with actual talent for those 12 minutes instead is a good thing...
More minutes for Monte or Kane=good

Yeah two guys who have never played for us and one is a freshman. Kane is a better 2 than a 1, from his own mouth.

I don't hate the kid, hell I don't know the kid. I just think he's a bad basketball player, you should really stop escalating what I've typed. You're damn right I'd be that coach and this might be a huge shocker to you, but that would make me like pretty much every other coach out there. Hoiberg will do what it takes to win, even if that means stripping away the scholarship of a player who had already signed an LOI just so he could give it to someone else and I applaud him for doing it. It takes a cut throat mentality to compete and keep your lucrative job at the highest levels of collegiate athletics.
Hoiberg didn't strip it, unless you are implying Hoiberg and Leath are together on kicking Bubu out, which I don't get why Bubu would appeal if that was the case. I don't think Hoiberg has any say in this, just Leath. Let's wait and see I guess.

I don't think this scenario is true for the Kentucky game.

I think he was referring to stripping the scholarship from the juco so we could get Kane.

I'm starting to get the idea that the group that doesn't think Bubu should appeal believe that he shouldn't appeal because he's not a good player and would not be helpful to the team.

Using this terrible logic, I'll play along. Why wouldn't we want another player on the team? If he's not good (as many on here believe), Hoiberg won't play him. Let's let Hoiberg decide who should get the playing time though.

Sometimes I do forget how many posters on here are better coaches and talent evaluators than Fred.

Palo was forthcoming, after the prosecution dropped the charges. He was probably advised by his lawyer not to talk prior to any trial proceedings.

The incident did not occur on campus, the accuser is not a student...you can't even argue that the University brought the accused here as he was raised in Ames. The University has no obligation to "protect her interests" outside of a PR standpoint. There was no cover-up by ISU, no attempts to pressure her into recanting by the coaches or the ISU legal dept as has happened elsewhere. ISU let the case play out in the court system. Palo was suspended from the team, but allowed to remain enrolled and attend classes. I don't see how she could have any case against the University, or any standing to bring a suit against the University. She could go through the civil courts against Palo, maybe...but I just don't see how the University could be drawn into that successfully. However, I'm not a lawyer. Maybe there's something I'm not seeing.
I thought she was a student...

So some think that Fred doesn't value Bubu but kept him on scholarship while taking away Amardi's who I feel fills a bigger need on the team and by getting a scholly to Oregon showed he is a capable player. Bubu then appeals a decision which starts a process of transparency. This process is going to re-open up ugly information that Bubu already went through in court. He is going to go through all that on a hope that Fred will take him back if he wins? I'm sure Fred wouldn't advise Bubu to go through this ordeal if he wouldn't play Bubu or if he didn't think Bubu would make a significant contribution to the team.

Bubu was present during a RAPE.? Was the other guy charged?

no overstep at all.

Regarding his play, he was abused by Ohio St guards last March....He was subbed in and out during a couple OT losses (i.e Texas loss)....He was abused in our losses vs Kentucky and UConn in 2012 NCAA's

He needs to go away

What are you talking about? What rape was he present for?

I'm not advocating for Bubu to start or see an increase in playing time. That would be foolish. But the guy does have value in his role, and his absence is going to show, especially early.

decisions about athletes should come down to the coaches and maybe AD. the university president shouldn't be involved. it's micro-managing and sets up ill will between his own employees. leath should have stuck to his job, which is fundraising.

And the rash stupidity continues...

The play by play from that game doesn't match your memory very well as it looks like SC was still in the game almost 4 mins after making his only 3 of the game in 31 minutes.

Right now, we're all playing Jeoprady with a tarp over the big board.

I'm not saying Bubu is guilty, but there is really only one proper response to this...

This thread is horrible in so many different ways

Elaborate? I don't have a problem with him getting kicked off the team for his behavior and judgement. I don't like the University President reversing his Office that is charged with enforcing code with no explanation. This basically ruins his reputation and life with no means to defend himself and no due process. I could care less about basketball, and am sure for Bubu as a 4.0 student it is more about his reputation and career than basketball at this point. I think he and the public deserve an explanation. I hate the crowd that is so concerned about "not protecting athletes" (which I dont think this is) they throw out every concept of justice. It is disturbing.
