Browns Replacement Coach Official Thread. Could CMC be the man?

Will CMC go to Cleveland?

We can't control what anyone does so I try not to think about it too much.

My only real comment is, I hope, if he does plan to stay, he comes out and says it publicly. Not addressing it only stokes anxiety. He can build something here and he knows it.

I have no ties to Iowa except Iowa State and now I bleed cardinal and gold. It's not impossible to move somewhere and fall in love.

What motivates coaches and CMC in particular? Money, wins, fame, shaping young people into successful citizens, his family and their happiness, other things?

You can get all of these things at the college level and a lot of them at the pro level, it just depends on what is important to the guy and what his personal goals are.

Hok fans praying that he leaves

That is what is so sad and pathetic about these loser hawk fans. They never ever talk about what they need to do to justify knowing they are paying for top 10 results, but finishing 4th in a division worse than the old big 12 north.

So rather than talk about that, they know their only hope of whatever level of relevance they currently have is for other schools to lose their coaches. They’re praying for Campbell and brohm to leave. Not how do we stay above them.

Add in the certainty that lil Kirk will be the next coach, when k state won’t even let Snyder’s kid follow him. And that deep seeded knowledge that the job is not really that appealing, and you have idiots like cyliam

I just don't see how we keep him at this point. He's soooo young and has no ties to the state of Iowa. At this point I just pray it happens fast. Get an offer and go. If this stuff drags on over the course of a year or two where he's linked to every opening that comes up it will negatively impact hos ability to recruit.
Lol by looking at your posting history, you clearly are not a Cyclone fan. Why do Iowa fans feel the need to post on their rivals forums like a little brother?

It’s an article by Jason La Canfora... you are an Iowa fan... pretending to be upset by an article from a guy who makes up “sources”. I mean I get you are trying to troll but man... you really are bad at this.

Campbell very well might leave but I’m going to need something more than a La Canfora article.

There's no question it did, and it would be more pronounced in football. I have no idea if Campbell would leave for the Browns but It wouldd be stupid to dismiss it outright. Those that think the Browns is a bad job either have their head in the sand or live in the past. They have a quality GM and front office, have a potential franchise QB in place, and a lot of quality young pieces. They are in a much better place than most of the other NFL teams likely to be looking for a head coach.
You should stick with praying.

This is really the only sane way to look at it. The problem with the "public denial" is it's been done so many times before by guys who clearly had one foot out the door. It's to the point where it's nearly totally meaningless.

The reality is Campbell leaving isn't the end of the world. In fact it was the 2nd best possible outcome when he was hired. We are in a MUCH better place as a program now compared to when we hired our last 3 coaches. The only real concern is whether Pollard can make another quality hire given his sketchy track record.

1) I didn't post the link
2) I'm not upset
3) I'm not an Iowa fan.

Sorry about the collar.

1.) never said you did
2.) you sure seem upset
3.) you keep telling yourself that. I mean. after all it’s not a lie if you believe it

If I were you (and thank God I am not) I would just tell everyone I am an Iowa fan because if you aren’t you really are about a dumb a fan as you can find.

You’re stuck with Kirk and lil Kirk for at least the next decade. If all you got is hope that other schools lose their coaches, that should tell you everything about the state of your program.

Under no circumstances do I think he won’t leave at some point for another job. I just can’t see, as he currently is, him doing it for the NFL. Every single interview he does he talks about how much he loves recruiting the kids, finding them, coaching them up and developing them and helping teach them not only as football players, but as young men. If that’s your favorite part of the job, which it often sounds like it’s his favorite part of the job, you don’t go to coach in the NFL.

CBS reporting Brown are reaching out to him.

Hope he stays obviously.

Coaching the Browns won't be a successful venture.

He has addressed it, emphatically denying it before.

There is alot to be said for the differences between coaching college VS the NFL game. That said the list of coaches who have taken the shot when offered is much longer than those that have said no. History has also proven that it's tough to judge what's in a coaches heart based on public comments.

When you think about it if OSU, ND, and the Browns all have openings it would be the absolute PERFECT storm for Campbell to leave. If all 3 of those jobs open and he's still here come next September then I think it's realistic to think he's here for the long haul.
