Breece Hall [Good News]

He'll definitely have a chance to be. But there will always be teams reaching in the first round and surprises. I think DM goes in the 2nd round at the highest. Teams are devaluing the running back position unless it's a guy like Barkley and will wait until the 2nd or 3rd to pull the trigger, even on a good back. Kamara is a breakout talent at RB and he went in the 3rd.

It's tough to say because you see things like James Connor being as good as Bell when he replaces him but when you look at Gurley, Kama, Hunt, Barkley, etc. maybe the NFL is adjusting there. Multi-dimensional backs are now really valuable in offenses. That's what DM is. He's a guy who can be a focal point in the right system.

I think Lang is getting seriously slighted on this board, Kene is faster but looks like he's going to always be a change of pace type of guy. Lang has the skill set to be a featured back. Croney will be in the mix but IMO it's Lang and '19 guys competing post DM.

I tend to think that there is a reason that Lang was the starter when DM was out . Of all the guys on the roster currently, he seems to have the most complete toolbox.

I think he takes a huge step up next year if/when Montgomery leaves.

I don't remember who was on the field first but Lang had less touches than both the other two backs.

Agree, Lang brings a similar skill set to DM, he's just not on DM's level. Kene gets more action now because he brings something DM doesn't. That will change if DM isn't around. Lang has tons of potential.

I was wondering if it's time to start the one more year chants for Butler and Montgomery

Take the money and run when it comes to the Not For Long. Iowa State needs to have some high profile draft picks. That's advertising gold when it comes to recruiting. Gotta get players to the next level; which has been historically embarrassing for this program lately.

I agree completely. He's like a Kareem Hunt clone. Give him a good line and he could do big things. I don't know if that means he gets drafted higher than the 2nd round though. I hope he does and a team is fully committed to him. He deserves is.

Agreed. It's impossible not to draw parallels between the two.

I'm not sure who's going to be looking for a running back next year, but Hunt's usage and success can only help DM's draft prospects.

Seems like more teams are trying to have multiple solid backs on hand rather than overspend for high priced guys. So a lot of teams could be in the mix. But if he goes higher than the 2nd round, someone really likes him and he should play a ton.

Barring injury no way DM is back. CMC will prob make him go. Very weak RB class. He will go top 2 rounds

That low? If CMC says Monty is as good or better than Kareem Hunt, he will be first back taken. Maybe by Cleveland Browns:cool:

Ha! Last I saw, that guy became a body builder and got huge.

As far as Montgomery, with his character and his love for Ames, ISU, his coaches and teammates, I wouldn't be surprised if he came back. Although it would make sense for him to enter the draft. I think Butler will end up leaving early, but that's probably a topic for a later thread.

Croney may be the best at getting what’s there, but unfortunately we’ve need guys more apt at getting what’s not there.

I wonder if we’d have success in a two rb set. No offense to receivers like Jones, but anything to get those guys more touches and keep the defense from selling out on DM is worth a try imo.
Hell, throw Jones in the backfield with DM once in a while. Jones and Milton on the field at the same time along with Butler, Kolar and Akers. Or put Kene out wide instead of Akers. Talk about a speed lineup.
