Brackens

I think Brackens needs to stop going to basketball games wearing a fat lady costume and running around on the balcony at Hilton and just focus on playing football.

I just know that there are several high school coaches in the state who, based on their communication with CPR and the football staff, would be shocked if Messingham did not return as OC.

Just the slight possibility that this could be true makes me sad.

You really think CPR would tip his hand to high school coaches? How naive are you?

Yeah, what's a college student doing having fun and letting loose a little bit in the off-season? How dare he do anything but eat, sleep, lift weights & run, watch film, play football, and go to class.

If you simply forgot your :jimlad", my apologies. If not, my statement stands.

I'll never figure out what is wrong with posters like you, and the sad thing is you're completely serious? Have you ever struggled doing something? Anything? How would you feel if you were told to only focus on that thing and completely stop having a life outside of it?

Also, if you forgot the jimlad, then I redact my comments, but if not I definitely stand by this statement.

This gem was posted on CF in February. I think it's cool that he shows school spirit and gets into it!

Someone may have mentioned this already, but did anyone see Rhoads go into the defensive huddle during a timeout and yank Brackens out and absolutely lay into him? Third quarter I think..

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what this thread was originally about. It's taken a lot of turns since then.

Then you haven't been listening in the right places. You've been watching Palmer "carry the banner"...

This coaching staff is not doing their job (as seen on the field) That was evident right off the bat against UNI.

..better than sticking you head in the sand in blind faith. That type of fan is far more hurtful to a program...allowing crap to continue and not calling things into question.

You're probably right. I thought someone saw Brackens giving him the business from the field when it was quiet or something, but I am probably wrong about that.

Sorry guys. Forgot the :jimlad: . LOL.

With coaches that knew what they were doing we would have wins over UNI, Tulsa, Tech (they tried to hand us that game), and TCU (again, they tried to hand us that game). Thats 4 wins with WVU and KU left.

This is mostly directed at Mess.

No way we win 7 next year, unless we get a new OC and a bunch of JUCO defenders.

i think this is exactly what we'll see next year.

That was the case when ISU had a much stricter budget to deal with, but the fact of the matter is that shouldn't be much of an issue anymore. We of course haven't seen the AD's total financial situation, but it doesn't take much research to realize that ISU is finally in a situation in which they can go out and pay what it takes to bring in an established coaching staff.

Relying on old excuses is getting very tiresome.

Hmmm...not sure about that. I have to think we're still near the bottom of the BCS level conference barrel when it comes to budget.

That is such a ******** question, and you know it.

He's not running a company, he's running a football team. You don't get landscape architects fired up to go out there and make a great hedge maze. You don't need to be able to get your drivers frothing at the mouth to shuttle prom-goers. But being able to fire up a group of players is key to being successful as a football coach. Especially when you're overcoming a talent gap.

If you think the players are tired of CPR's antics, then you weren't watching the defense today. They were pumped, hungry, and angry, after having gotten a **** ton of points hung on them the last 4 weeks. That's CPR. That's CPR getting those kids up to hold TCU to 21 points (14 of which they earned).

CPR didn't lose the team at half time. According to Nealy, he had the locker room with tears in their eyes, motivated to go out and take someone's head off for Bruns. That was CPR. That touchdown on the kickoff, according to Nealy, was because he wanted to make CPR proud.

But you're going to tell me that CPR has lost the team?

And no, the fan base is not turning on CPR. A few dozen jackholes on a message board are screaming like spoiled children who had their favorite toy taken away while they were at Grandma's house have turned against him.

The rest of Cyclone Nation is still pretty firmly behind our coach. At least 54,900+ of us.

I'm with you and the rest the 54,900+. The vocal internet tough guys on here are embarrassing. Has this season been disappointing, yeah. A bowl bid was iffy if the stars aligned, the injuries to the offensive line have been ridiculous. Sports are as much about confidence and momentum as talent and coaching. I think Sam is potentially the best quarterback we've had at least since Sage, maybe better. Talent and enthusiasm can't overcome a thumb injury that physically prevents you from throwing, you can't run effectively with a ankle and groin injury. Yes I agree a change needs to be made on offense. I always thought Tom Herman was a competent offensive coordinator, he just never had a quarterback to fit his system. Boo birds on here turned on him very prematurely. Mess looks to be in over his head. I'm sure CPR sees this. Now is not the time to turn on CPR. Let him right the ship next year. If not then we can talk.

And this is why we will always suck. We are just little ol ISU. If only Art Briles thought that way...

Briles got RGIII and it sparked their recruiting. They went 4-8 Briles and RGIII first year, 4-8 again and then a 7-6 in 2010. Not exactly tearing it up. The 2011 season, 10-3 third in Big 12, and RGIII Heisman made all the difference for a school like Baylor. ISU needs some sort of spark like that to break through and we don't have near the tradition or recruiting base that even a school like Baylor has.

Baylor is a small private school in Waco, Texas with zero fanbase and not one winning record in the Big 12 before Briles.

Because Briles can identify talent and knows what he is doing, they are good.
