Just to offer a counter point - a few years ago, my friends and I went to St. Louis for the men's NCAA basketball tournament. We were watching Michigan State play Middle Tennessee State in the 2 vs 15 match up. MTSU was winning at halftime, and we decide to move to their section since they didn't have hardly any fans sitting over there. After a few minutes in the second half, security made us move.

4 years of lurking to make posts like this. Things must be really slow over on HN. Seriously, it is good to get some perspective on the "other" state team's anticipated bowl experience.
The best seats are in the ISU section, not among disinterested locals or sponsors. Support your University by buying through ISU.
2006 Kinnick for the Iowa State game. Fans behind me had 10 security guard come to us. It was sit or leave. That's what happens with 2nd row seats behind the ISU bench as a student, and sitting in front of Iowa donors.

Relax. I think he was just trying to provide some insight as to how great of a bowl the Alamo Bowl is. Also, he was admitting how poorly the Iowa tickets are selling and how well our bowl tickets are selling. I didn't take it as anything but mostly being positive.
Agree. I think he was really implying that Cyclone fans are the state's gold standard. And, that after seeing their hoks lose so much in bowl games, they have decided they might as well just stay home and watch Iowa State on TV.
Has there been any updates on the line for us non tweeter/exchange-a-gram folk about where ISU ticket sales are sitting since the new allotment info?
I have asked people to sit before. We had season tickets and there was a couple a few rows in front of us who were elderly and couldn't stand for very long at a time. There was another couple a couple rows in front of them that started standing constantly. I asked them to just not stand constantly because of that elderly couple. They were very gracious about it only standing on big downs so that couple would only have to stand once in a while to see.
That is the way it is supposed to work.

The guys that stand the whole game, that are loud about standing the whole game, that are obstinate about standing the whole game and that think that standing the whole game makes them feel like they are better fans than anyone else - they're just attention whores. It's just about "look at me". They're jackasses. Nobody gives a ****.
Obviously, stand when it makes sense. Interact with the game. Yell and scream when it matters. I ******* do. But you standing the whole time does nothing for the team. It means absolutely nothing. It's a cry for attention. It's pathetic.
I don't know what magical powers it is that you think you possess, but your track record suggests it's not working. All you are is the most hated person in your section.

Because someone is jacked to be a sporting event and wants to stand & yell the majority of the time, that means they're looking for attention? Might be the dumbest thing I've heard today. There are probably 20k+ that do that every single game, so it's a pretty stupid way to try to get attention.
I loved being in the student section since they stand all game. Even stayed there a few years after graduating because of that. That's not really feasible anymore, and I don't stand all game anymore because of that. But yeah, if the other offense is on my side of the field, I'm going to be standing & yelling for just about every play. Same thing with any 3rd or 4th down for them anywhere on the field. If you can't stand, then you can either watch the jumbotron or get better tickets.
I can see the headlines now " Iowa State puts Washington State in the Hospital, but It wasn't their football team!"
