BOWL TICKETS SOLD

According to Scott Royster last night on KCCI, ISU fans have already purchased all 12,000 tickets allotted to them for the Alamo Bowl, and have (through JP) requested more.

EIU, on the other hand, has so far puchased about 3,000 tickets of their allotment for the Outback Bowl. (Not sure what the total allotment is.)

Why am I not surprised????? :D

that place holds 65k. Each team only gets 12k? where do the 41k other tickets go, the general public? that seems like a lot of tickets for randos

I'd say sponsorships and the general public. They could possibly hold some tickets as well before releasing more.

They definitely hold tickets back. They just released more tickets for Iowa State. It also sounds like WSU sales have been really weak.
 
What I hate is that the bowls give the Universities the worst seats in the stadium to sell. All of ISU's allotment was the end zone. I purchased them through ISU again but I don't think I will going forward. I want the best seat for my money and I could have bought much better tickets for the same or a bit cheaper on Sunday.

I'm sure a lot of people are doing just that, which makes the 13k or so sold through ISU particularly impressive. Hope we have 30k+ in that stadium (I think we will, easily).

From what I could tell it was endzone/Iowa St sideline area.

The 12k is what the schools are contractually obligated to buy. If WSU only sells 5,000 to their fans, the university still has to pay for the other 7,000. That's why it's important to buy through the school.

I get that, and that's what I did, but the bowl giving the school the worst seats is the issue. I get that the whole purpose for them is to fill every seat. Giving the crappiest seats to the schools ensures that, plus they can charge premiums for the better spots.

Bowl games are a reward for the fanbase, too, albeit a reward they (we) pay for. It's a shame that the fans are the cannon fodder - filling the seats they couldn't sell for $30 or $50, which, oh yeah, we're paying $100 more than that, too

Yep, they give the schools bad seats and then make the schools pay for all of their allotment even if they aren't able to sell them - the bowls are set up to make sure they make money and a lot of schools end up losing money by going bowling.

Right, but you bought those via third party and not through ISU. Correct? My point was that you couldn't pick where your seats are and sideline tickets weren't really an option through ISU.
