Bowl Situation Thread

Also heard Iowa is going to get Baylor or Texas A&M. They are screwed if they play either of those two teams.

Interesting because I heard its likely to be Northwestern vs AtM in Menike. I just don't see Baylor with RGIII to fall far enough to get matched up with Iowa

USA Today Coaches Poll

1) LSU 1475 pts
2) Alabama 1399 pts
3) Ok State 1367 pts

They did not pass them, but they closed the gap tremendously. If they closed the gap similarly in the Harris Poll and they can get 4 of 6 computers to give them the #2 spot they have a chance to pass.

EDIT: May very well come down to the computers, but I agree w/ the latest from JPPalm that Oklahoma State may need to pass Alabama in Harris Poll, or get 5 of 6 computers to give them #2 spot and then could still be behind.

We will find out in time. Baylor had a couple bad losses. I do have a bad feeling ISU is going to get shoved to the Pinstripe Bowl though. At this point i'm praying for the Holiday or Kraft Hunger. San Fran would be a nice place. Let's try to stay in Cali and not..........New York........

If they closed the gap similarly in the Harris Poll and they can get 4 of 6 computers to give them the #2 spot they have a chance to pass.As an example: If Harris Poll gives 2620 pts to Alabama & 2568 pts to Oklahoma State; with 4 of 6 computers giving OSU #2 they would take the #2 spot in BCS Average (.9267 vs .9266)
What was the spread in the last Harris poll?

i have some contacts that are real connected at Mizzou saying they think they won't get a big 12 bowl
I don't know that this is a good thing for us. I read that to mean that our chances of being an at-large are slim, so chances of the Pinstripe are greater.

I really think OSU and KSU get in BCS. I would say definitely a Big XII bowl. No more at large talk. Holiday, Texas, or Pinstripe.

I think you are right with K State but wouldn't rule Baylor out either. Looks as though RG3 might be a heisman finalist and could be a draw (Luck vs. RG3 matchup?). But neither K State or Baylor are huge draws so OU might still trump them???

I'm no BCS expert and just taking a shot in the dark but if it ended up like these estimated ranks below there would be 2 teams picked out of these 4 options. Way I look at it it is more important that TCU and Michigan stay out of BCS mix rather than Okkie State making it in the championship game. Even if Okkie State were number 3, the remaining at large options would remain fairly similar. But if TCU and/or Michigan get in the mix our changes of 2 Big 12 BCS teams start to drop.

BCS at large options without TCU/Michigan in:
Option 1 - VA Tech
Option 2 - Big 12 Teeam (K State, OU, Baylor)
Option 3 - Boise State
Option 4 - Houston

Don't really think Boise State and Houston are viable choices with teams in options 1 and 2. Even if Okkie State was a 3 we would be good for possible Holiday spot as long as TCU and Michigan stay below these spots. Think Okkie State making the championship game would give us a much better shot at 2 Big 12 teams as the Fiesta might stick to its conference alignment and pick a Big 12 team. Logical pick is K State but they might pick Baylor to get RG3.

Automatics:
Atlantic Coast Conference-Orange Bowl - Clemson
Big Ten Pac-12 Conference-Rose Bowl - Oregon vs. Wisconsin
Big 12 Conference-Fiesta Bowl
Southeastern Conference-Sugar Bowl

Remaining pick order:
Fill championship spot 1 - Sugar - Alabama
Fill championship spot 2 - Fiesta - Stanford?
Fiesta - Baylor? (Luck vs. RG3)
Sugar - VA Tech
Orange - West VA

Based on estimated BCS rank of (no real source and open for debate):
1. LSU
2. Okkie State
3. Alabama
4. Stanford
5. Boise State
6. Arkansas
7. Oregon
8. K State
9. VA Tech
10. Wisconsin
11. S. Carolina
12. Baylor
13. Houston
14. Oklahoma
15. Michigan
16. Clemson
17. TCU
18. Michigan State
19. Georgia
20. Nebraska
