***Big 12 Preseeds (Mon.)/Brackets (Wed.)***

Likely first round match ups

125 - unknown
131 - Redding vs Leake (CBU) - Leake pinned Redding the first go around in a dual that started at 149, so I’ll assume bad cut week for Redding.
141 - unknown
149 - Johnson vs Moore (OU) - no match ups yet
157 - Kraisser vs Gfeller (OSU) - lost 3-1 to Gfeller back in January. Should be close but don’t think Gfeller is someone that will gas out so Kraisser will have to try and score early.
165 - Carr vs Fernandes (No Co) - wouldn’t be surprised to see an unseeded guy here depending on who gets a bye.
174 - unknown
184 - Coleman vs King (SDSU) - don’t believe they’ve wrestled. Broderson lost to King 6-3 a few years back
197 - Bastida vs Bockman (UVU) - sneaky tough match up. Bockman will do nothing to try and keep it to a 1 takedown match. 5-3 match the first go around.
285 - Sammy vs Gordon (UNI) - another sneaky tough match. Gordon is quick but Sammy is good on his feet and is quite a bit stronger than Gordon. 4-1 match a few weeks ago.
Carr versus this guy?

Hard pass.

Or he can just avenge all the losses and show peak performance
This comment applies to everybody. We need to peak at all weights including Carr at 165.

Win and advance. Go for the major. Get the pin. Just. Score. Points.

Wrestling better than the expectation is a must to win Big 12's and bring home a trophy at the NC.

It's F-ing go time.

If casey were healthy and our best 125 was wrestling there wouldn't be such a dramatic drop off! Still hoping swiderski can get it together for a postseason push here
Let’s wait and see how 141 and 125 both do. They could both be top 5 if healthy and competing well

A few random draws that I wouldn't want
125 - Witcraft or Cabanban
141 - Swiderski or Greenwood
165 - Yant
174 - Hastings, Berreysea or Broderson
Will add: 133- Henson, 141- Ty smith, 149- Alek Martin. And like you said 174 could be dynamite

Just for comparison here are last years seeds and team points calculated based on them:
ISU Seeds
Terukina 6
Attasauov 5
Parker 1
Degen 3
Carr 1
Judge 7
Devine 7
Coleman 2
Bastida 4
Schuyler 3

I think that is a little tricky because some seeded wrestlers will get byes into the quarters and some will have a 1st round match, thus having a chance to gain an additional advancement point (and possible bonus points).

That said, I will try to calculate from the quarter finals onward (i.e. ignoring any points in the 1st round). Also, I won't include bonus points.

Championship Advancement = 1 / Consolation Advancement = 0.5
1st = 16 / 2nd = 12 / 3rd = 10 / 4th = 9 / 5th = 7 / 6th = 6 / 7th = 4 / 8th = 3

All this comes out to:

1 OSU 109.5
2 ISU 107.5
3 MIZ 93.5
4 UNI 85
5 SDSU 79
6 OU 64.5
7 WYO 60.5
8 NDSU 60.5
9 WVU 40
10 UVU 28
11 UNC 24
12 AF 18

Looks pretty tight at the top...

Compare that to this years:

Team race, based on seeds:

MIZ 130
OSU 103
ISU 89
UNI 80.5
SDSU 76
NDSU 70

I will say I didn't dig into the math to know whether the two different team points calculations were done the same way. I had forgotten that Parker was the 1. Woof, that postseason, with David, Ian, and Degens results. Here's to all of our guys wrestling above their seeds this year instead of below!

Everyone was seeded last year. Makes sense when I remember(incorrectly) that we sent all ten nine guys to the NCAA Tourney.

I know it's not as cut-and-dry as this, but our seed average last year was 3.9 and this year is 5.5. This is assuming that the unseeded guys are "ranked" in the order they are listed on the seeding list. I'm sure there's a better way to analyze the difference, but -1.6 seed positions per wrestler compared to last year seems crazy with how we generally talk and think about this team compared to last years.

Edit: Completed my thought and corrected # sent to NCAA.

Judge didn’t make it last year but your point stands.

We could struggle to score points at 25, 41, 57 and 74 so we will need our big guns to perform and hope those 4 weights win some matches.
