I don't know why everyone is acting surprised. Going into the bowl season everyone was commenting how the matchups were not good for the Big 12. One thing that has stood out to me, however, is how much more physical the other teams are then our teams. We have been beaten at the line of scrimmage in almost every bowl game. This gives me hope in that I think ISU will be a more physical team under CMC.
How did Stanford look to start the year? You need to try harder.
The big 12 being a beast of a conference is a narrative that people latched on because the head man ran with it so often. The schedule has been tough, to be sure, but when the CEO of your team whines before game one, it's going to trickle down.

The Big 12 is tough, particularly a tough match-up if we are going to try to be the same as everyone else and with the added conference game, but it is not why we sucked. It is tough in the sense that a very average team like Iowa will not go 12-0 in the Big 12, but you can still expect to go 8-4 or 7-5 with competent roster development and play. Instead we lose to FCS and MAC teams and choke away games against teams playing in New Year's Day bowl games.
Good post. The bowl powers matched a lot of Big 12 teams against fast and athletic teams with great qb's like Ole Miss, Clemson, LSU, Oregon, and Arkansas, a lot of them who have been coming on strong at the end of the year. We also had zero big 10 match-ups, which is very unusual, and we've had great success against Big 10 teams the last 10 years. Our best two teams imo, Baylor and TCU lost their qb's and I think both of those teams are legitimate top 10 or higher with their qb's. Still no excuse for the bad bowl performances the last few years and the conference needs to quit bragging and start performing in the bowl games.
The idea that we should have dominated because we had the #1 ranked SOS is a pretty silly theme that's gaining momentum here.
OK State got rolled in a virtual road game by an Ole Miss team that has stacked top recruiting classes on top of each other. Oklahoma lost by 20 to the #1 team.
It's not like those two things invalidated 100s and 100s of data points that suggest ISU played the best schedule in college football. To be fair if Iowa and Toledo had been horrible or average we probably only have somewhere around 15-20 SOS.
You have been beating this drum for years. May be time to give it a rest (until next year). It's like the whole B10 bullied you at some point. The B10 has had a rough post season, but the B12 may be having a worse one. Don't think representation on the committee caused that.
Did the B12 have 5 teams in the top 14 and 3 of them got blown out? No. The committee ranked the Big Ten as significantly better than the SEC! Don't even have to bring the B12 into what a joke it was.

If the virtual road game is an excuse, then I assume you'll defense the Big 10 using that excuse? Didn't the following Big Ten teams play virtual road games in their bowls?

Michigan played Florida in Florida
PSU played Georgia in north Florida
Minnesota played Central Michigan in Michigan
The Big 12 needs to quit ******** the bed in bowls, plain and simple. It's been worse than the Big 10 by far lately.
Ohio State has been very good in bowls/playoff. You're trolling if you think the rest of the Big Ten has been good. Their supposed top 2 teams a supposed #13 team in the country all got blown out.
Michigan was good this year and I look for them to be a top ten program long term. The rest of that league is a total cake walk.
Lol right...never mind Michigan State beating your champion last year. Big 12 has been without a doubt the most pathetic conference in bowl games in recent history...and they usually have more favorable match-ups than the big ten and are often playing in their home states.
