Big 12 Embarrassing

Ole Miss looks quite a bit smaller than OSU but they are fast and flying around. Their DB's are like a foot shorter than OSU receivers but they have no idea how to take advantage. The refs aren't helping anything either.

Some of the calls have been lack of OKSt discipline, others seem a little ridiculous.

Big 12 is floating dangerously toward B1G status. Look at the Tech and OU games. The speed was not a huge difference. What was? Size. Tech looked like an FCS school in relative size compared to LSU. OU looked small compared to Clemson.

The recruiting has slacked in the Big 12 lately and that needs to change. I do not know if expanding into Florida or SEC territory helps that or not. Teams on the lower side need better development via S&C and just overall improvement.

Bingo

It's hard to recruit when a lot of these schools are offering $$$$$ to these top recruits. The NCAA if a feckless ***** of an supposed institution.

I think fans tend to overreact to conference records in bowl games. Not always even matchups.

That said there are two noticeable deficiencies in Big 12 play during the bowl games

1. Big and fast wins out over small and fast or big and average speed.
2. Clemson and Bama are great because their defenses put their opponents back on their heels. They impose their will on their opponent. They play a mans game.

I mentioned the Ole Miss #1 recruiting class for a reason. That said, recruiting isn't why Texas had a losing record.

If any conference's defense is being exposed this bowl season, it's clearly the Big 10. It's the Big 12 offenses that aren't really showing up other than Baylor.

I meant it looks like no one plays defense during the big12 season. The offenses that exploded every Saturday are being shut down

Yes Old Miss pulled two Top classes in a row suddenly, after sucking for many years. How does that happen. $$$$$$$EC, ISU is never suddenly pulling in a #1 class because we aren't paying them under, over, or through the proverbial table.

Perfect time to get ahead of the curve and develop a ball control power run team before the rest of the conference catches on. Stanford does it with higher academic standards.

I do not mind this at all. If ISU can develop LOS on both sides of the ball it can translate from non con to conference to post season.

Not sure what to think on Big12 powers getting shellacked. Not very often do they feel like we do so many times

Their fans will point out some elite in state prospects...but I'd counter with "who typically go to Alabama, LSU, Florida".

It'd be like if ISU had landed Harrison Barnes over UNC and a few other blue chippers from around the country when we weren't even ranked. It's suspicious.

I'm fine with the conference sucking. It's our chance to make a move up the chain

The Big 12 has looked rough in bowl season a lot lately, while we have won 8 games in three years. I wish I could turn that into a positive in my head, but to me it just shows how far behind we really are.

Sadly this is true. ISU had a chance to make up some ground the past couple of years and we got stomped. ISU really had a chance to make some hay this year with the OL and the serviceable DL in place...and we got 3 wins.

I sure hope Campbell can develop guys and take advantage of what is out there. Development will be key but if ISU truly wants to improve recruiting will need to get better to go along with the development. I am not saying top 20 classes and winning the Big 12 but winning 8-9 games/season for 3 out of 4 season would be outstanding. I do not want people to think I am expecting that, it is just possible IMO.

We lost to two FCS teams and Toledo. It was not a schedule/innate recruiting problem, it was a Rhoads problem. In terms of raw talent we were not that far behind this year. The good news you are always just the right hire away. Let's hope JP made a good decision.

I personally think that OU got screwed by th refs.

LOL what?? They got dominated from start to finish after the first drive of the game. The score would have been a lot worse if Clemson didn't make a ton of the mistakes they did in the first half.

Another 30 point loss for Big 12 by a depleted Ole Miss team who was missing 3 starters on defensive.
