Big 12 Embarrassing

Never really understood why people get so worked up about how the Big 12 (or any collective conference for that matter) fares in postseason play for either basketball or football. I'm a cyclone fan not a Big 12 fan. Post season performance by other conference members have absolutely no impact on Iowa State's season.

money.

Other than the sec west the rest of the conferences play watered down league schedules that give them weeks off during the year.

The big twelve plays a much tougher regular season schedule and it's not close. I said it last year and I will say it again. That takes a toll on all the teams. Look at tcu and baylor. Injuries all over the field.

It's much easier taken a rested team with one tough game in a championship game into the post season.

This is the same narrative that Iowa fans used to use to explain the Big Ten not doing well in bowl games, the 'beat each other up' saga.

It sounded bad then and still does.

We have to have someone different rep the big 12 than OU. Stoops dont know how to coach the big games. Which is funny because to start his carreer he was known as big game Bob. Hopefully Baylor runs the table next year and can rep the big 12. Chokelahoma always does this.

Baylor hasn't exactly done that well when it comes to their big games. It definitely doesn't go well if someone plays remotely decent defense on the, i.e. Central Florida two years ago.

There are 41 bowl games. All but three of them are exhibition games. There is little to no effort to pair up teams based on merit or seeding. The proliferation of no-name bowls and league tie ins have pretty much ****ed it up even more. For cryin' out loud, bowls were taking losing teams because of their league commitments. Pretty much the entire Big 10 got an exhibition game.

The only embarrassing thing is not going. Pretty much nobody outside of the individual school playing in a particular game will remember or care what the score is or was a year from now.

If you want to make these meaningless exhibitions mean something then give the winner a $1M and make the loser pay it!

Actually the P5 conferences cover so much of the expense that the schools make some money. The non-P5's can end up losing real cash Amercain in significant chunks cause their leagues ain't doling out millions to pay their schools expenses.

OU did not have their best DT due to concussion & lost a starting LB in 1st qtr from pectoral injury. Clemson's front 4 not only are great, they constantly rotate & their 2-deep is damn good too. Bama does the exact same thing & are probably better than Clemson. Very, very few have this depth & OU didn't.

Topping it off, Clemson's offense was able to do what tempo O's all try to do, gas the opponent's D & that's exactly what happened. Beat OU at its own game.

I guess I don't care, like not even a little bit. The big XII doing good or bad doesn't effect me or ISU in any way since we aren't a part of it this bowl season. The whole "conference pride" BS is pretty silly, and just wreaks of butt hurt Big 10 fan who isn't over the fact that they went like 10 years as a conference without a winning bowl record up until the last year or two.

Yeah, that "injury free" TCU team looked so good in their 23-17 win over that juggernaut Minnesota team to start the year...

What annoys me more than anything is that Iowa State could make a Bowl with a 5-7 record and a HIGH graduation rate. Unfortunately, the Cyclones couldn't even qualify that way like SJSU, Nebraska and Minnesota! Looking forward to the MC Regime! Let's Roll Cyclones!

Clemson lost their All American DE in the first quarter too and they survived that.

I blame the problem on tooo darned many times in the conference from the State of Texas and spreading the talent way tooo thin. Also Our Bowl tie ins do not favor teams from the Midwest or from OkieVille evidently........... At least we did NOT get SHUT OUT like Michigan State and the B1G.....The Sparties got completely Run Over and Over Powered..... The difference between winning and losing is in the Def Lineman where Bama's are both Huge and Athletic and that's just a dead combination....they say these things run in cycles and lets hope they are right...the socalled experts Go Cyclones and Go Big XII
The olinemen from Cedar Falls looked good.

The level of variability in the performance in a single game of a single team, is much much higher than the overall level of "good" in any league overall. So bowl games are a lousy way to determine which conferences are better.

Earlier point about Baylor >>> NC, yet Clemson >> OU. The fact is Baylor played tough yesterday and Clemson did today. And that's much bigger impact than if the ACC >> Big12 or vice versa.

You simply can't really make broad sweeping statements about conferences based on a handful of one-off bowl games.
disagree. One game can be an outlier but we are talking 7. That won't give a 99% confidence level but will show a trend. The big twelves perception problem is more about lacking an elite team than top to bottom quality. It is hard to argue anybody is good if your best team doesn't show well in the finals.

Four more games left. Something about jumping to conclusions.

Bob Stoops sucks. Baylor rolled with backups vs a team some thought might make the playoffs if they beat Clemson .

People need to stop with this the big 12 sucks in bowl games. It's simply not true. Especially idiot big ten people. Sure last year was not a good year but it's one year.

This is after 2014 season I believe for past decade. Not bowls but overall vs each other. Bowl games are weird. U get a month off and start over...it's like playing game 1 all over again and my theory is strong offensive teams tend to struggle..not always but it can take time to get rolling again.

Last I checked we fired Rhoades because he couldn't get us into bowls, not because he couldn't win bowl games.
