Big 12 all star team

Wade will almost certainly be on the all freshman team (IMO). He's played really well, though I don't think he did much against us.

Wade had pneumonia earlier in the year. He had a great game v. OU. If he's well and that continues, he's FOY. I doubt anyone from oSu is going to be winning any awards, in spite of what people place here.

Why wouldn't they? Evans is the best freshman in the Big 12

Monte Morris - Jawun Evans
Buddy Hield - Wayne Selden
Taurean Prince - Matt Thomas
Perry Ellis - Georges Niang
Rico Gathers - Ryan Spangler

oSu is having a very bad year. Seldom are awards given to players on teams who under-perform and finish poorly.

Good point, OSU has 2 Big 12 wins so they won't get anyone on the award list. Since Kansas State has 3 Big 12 wins them having two players win awards makes sense.

Awards are given at the close of the year, like tournament slots. Both Wade and State are trending up. But Baylor is an awful match up, so that may change overnight. Right now Wade is in a far better place.

DPOY will be interesting. Usually it goes to somebody who leads in a statistical category, like blocked shots or steals.
As opposed to somebody like Iwundu, who defends the opposing teams best player. ie Withey winning over Babb

This year's statistical leaders:
Morris and Medford lead in steals
Lattin & Ibeh in blocks
Rico leads in rebounding

McKay won the award last season, and I would guess he won't win it again this season, but interestingly enough, he's the only one in the top 5 for rebounds and blocked shots.

Iwundu put Seldon on the bench in Lawrence last week and had a great game against Buddy. He may not win it. But he's certainly in the mix.

That's what we said about Babb, and I don't think he even made the all defensive team.

Nader may make the "All Attitude" list with ...
Seldon - mister disposition
Gathers - enforcer
Cousins - kick ball champ
McKay - can't get along with THAT coach?

A little unconventional but I'd go:

Morris
Hield
Niang
Gathers
Williams

Offensive rebounding would be ridiculous with Gathers and Williams in the post. Not sure how Niang would do but I think his offense is versatile enough that he'd make it work.

Juwan Evans is the best freshman in the Big 12 and it's not even close. Wade is going for 10ppg and 6rpg in Big 12 play. Evans is getting 15+ ppg, 4.4 boards and 5.6 assists a game. This isn't even a conversation. Even funnier, Wade only leads Evans in defensive rebounds in Big 12 play by ONE, 35-34. http://www.big12sports.com/fls/10410/pdfs/mbasketball/TeamStats16.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=10410

You failed to note that Evans won it the two weeks prior to this and Evans probably only didn't win it last week because he missed both of last week's games with a shoulder injury.

Now that's a reach, even for a hater. He didn't play or he would have won it. Wut? Doesn't that mean he won it ever week he played?

Perry for scoring and rebounding, Georges for scoring and passing, Monte for playmaker, Buddy for shooting and toughness, and Gathers for rebounding with Honorable Mention for Isiah Taylor and leadership.

Since Big 12 play started it's been Barry Brown, Evans, Evans and now Wade. The fact remains that there really is no valid argument that Wade is FOY over Evans. But I'd love to hear you try.

Why should I argue with you when your mind is already made up? Plus, you're the smartest guy in the room anyway.

A far better place than what? Evans? You think because KSU MIGHT finish a game or two over OSU that Wade will win FOY? Come on.
