Yes, no chance he gets fired after this season.
Just because he's not getting fired after this year doesn't mean his seat isn't warm.Yes, no chance he gets fired after this season.
You don't think it's even lukewarm? I mean, he's staring down the barrel of 3-4 conference wins. Didn't make the tournament last year. I guarantee you discussions have been had and short lists of replacements have been updated among the powers that be.
If anyone is interested you can go see Iowa play their "rival" tomorrow in basketball and sit in row 19 for $6.50
I dont think the expectation was to make the tournament last year. It was this year though so its a disappointing season without a doubt.
Miss the tourney next year as well? Then his seat will be hot.
You think he can miss the tourney next year and still keep his job?
I would want him gone. I dont know if he would be fired though.
Well you have to know that you're probably not making the tourney next year right?
If the only players that we add are Wieskamp and Fredrick, I would probably agree with that.

Is there a JUCO name floating around on the pay boards as a possibility or are you guys pretty much stuck with just those two. Also Wieskamp took another nose dive on ESPN's rankings I see. Went from almost 5 star at the beginning to in the 70's

His seat will be hot at the end of this year. You don't under-perform the way his team has this year and not have your seat warm. Not at the Power 5 level. What's the stat that's been going around? Iowa has been down by at least 17 points at one time or another in each of its conference games this year? He will be roasting next season.
Havent heard any JUCO's that Iowa is looking at. Something will have to be done as rumor is there are 2 players transferring out after the season. My hope is it will be Ellingson and Wagner.
And we both know ESPN is terrible at recruiting so not sure why you are bringing that up.
He is still a Top 50 according to the 247 composite.
Having a couple players transfer will help because it will shorten your rotation but unless you're in already on some HS or JUCO kids you're probably not going to add anyone at this point who will help you out for next year. I can't see a sit out wanting to come to Iowa either with the uncertainty of who will be their coach
I'm guessing he'll drop some when it is updated later and THT will rise
I see THT is close to cracking the Top 100, good for him.
Hot seat, to me, doesn't necessarily mean they're about to get fired. That's the hottest of hot seats. But, missing the tournament two years in a row, at a Power 5 school, and being 1-7 in conference play, looking completely non-competitive, is starting a lot of grumblings about Fran's tenure. Those discussions constitute a warm seat. Just means that people are talking about an Iowa Basketball future without Fran in it. The media is discussing it, too. I'm not the only one who thinks that way.Maybe we look at the term hot seat a little different. He is not getting fired this year so I dont consider him on the hot seat. If he doesnt improve the roster and make the tourney next year he will be on the hot seat and hopefully in danger of losing his job then.
He'll end up higher than Wieskamp on the composite when it's all said and done IMO
